Re: Sudden electrical death of washers, wipers, and heater fan.
Ah OK, even with my blinkered eyes.. and thoughtless confused tired brain, and the well thumbed page of Haynes, The X relay was not in the right spot! I can see how he got it wrong replacing it, as when its in the right place its "upside down" Why did he even take it out, dont know.. Anyho...

Re: Sudden electrical death of washers, wipers, and heater fan.
Long day today, bit tired to think.
Photo of what's there, relays..

Anything obviously wrong?
I shall follow Robsey's leads in the morning.
Thanks

Re: Sudden electrical death of washers, wipers, and heater fan.
Have you checked the X relay. Relief relay in location No 8 It is a very heavy duty relay numbered 24, 18, or 100. Other than that is the ignition switch. X pin position. It feeds 12 volts to relay No8 pin 4 (relay terminal 86) If you don't have 12v on pin 4 with the ignition on (not cranking), the...

Sudden electrical death of washers, wipers, and heater fan.
So it was working recently and all at once not.
Checked the fuses 11 and 13, late van..
Earth crowns look fresh but I'll give them a wiggle.
Any tips what to look at next.
Electrics is my massive blind spot!

Re: Leisure battery advice
I'm looking to replace my leisure batteries, they were as recommended on here lead acid, one under each front seat. Starter is under the rear seat. This will be my third set killed, due to discharge.. Quite expensive, but easy to do. Think I would like to go for the lithium. Interested to see if the...

Re: Fitting swivel seats
Worth doing. I just bought new swivels to suit. Something to consider is access to that underseat area. I have my leisure batteries under there but poor access. Often regret that I didnt spend more time on access ideas. Its a tiny bit faffy swivelling drivers seat, theres the handbrake in the way th...

Re: Rubber door steps
I usually (always?) buy from BW.
Thought to get some opinions meanwhile.
I shall let you know how rubbery they are!

Rubber door steps
I had the steps welded some years ago,
nice job, and as per original,
the welder fitted new rubber steps.
I never liked them, very plasticky.
Slippery when wet too.
I am going to guess there are variations..
can anyone point me to the quality item?

Pop top foam mattress recommendation please
We have a pop top that did not come with a mattress, not sure but I could guess theres not a lot of space up there, so its crucial to find (buy) a thin but comfortable mattress. One idea is to go to a pop top seller and try the options, but I thought to ask on here what people think. I usually sleep...

I dont have the answers but I guess that whoever does may need more info,
my Golf (petrol) motor liked the ratios of the previous 1.6 diesels gearbox.
Post up what exactly your engine is.
