Re: Electric

Vauxhall have a concept car that uses a small petrol driven generator to charge the batteries.

The main motor is electric, the range wasnt bad at around 200miles*

Re: JX injector pump queries

I'm not sure if anyone is so interested, but I had the pump up and running last week, the timing was fine so no problems with it being 180 degrees out after all. I did take the pump top off and check I had fitted everything correctly. The pump seemed to run and idle correctly, but hasn't been road t...

1.6 Diesel head gaskets

Does anyone know what the difference is between pre 85 and later head gaskets for the 1.6 as there is a big price difference.

Thanks

Re: Engine lid fire risk ?

Early engine lids are metal, later ones are fibreglass,

I saw a burnt out petrol engined van at a scrappers once, it made me shiver!

Good reason to have diesel imho.

Re: JX injector pump queries

Hello,

there was too much end float on the original pump drive sprocket,

I could move the pulley by a couple of mm

and I am curious as to wether it will work when it has been reassembled!

JX injector pump queries

Has anyone tried transplanting the rotor head and pump top, to another injector pump body? I took two pumps to pieces today and put all the JX parts into an old industrial pump body. The internal drive could potentially go in 180 degrees out as there are two positions is this critical will it put th...

When you go looking for something it costs a fortune, when you aren't looking they fall out of the sky! I already hav...

Webasto diesel blown air heater

Hello,

I have just been given a webasto 12v hot air heater from an old transit

It has the digital display/control unit.

Does anyone have any experience of these and how they compare with the eber?

Thanks

Re: adding alcohol to tank to get rid of water?

We use a similar product here called Lasol (or similar) which is designed th make the water mixable and thus able to be burnt.

There are several versions one for diesel and one for petrol.

As you can imagine you get more steam from the exhaust.

Re: Shall i drop water out or leave it till the weekend?

The engine is the most expensive item so check that its drained, the tubes will stand it, the radiator is also prone.
