Re: How heavy are our vans?

Thanks guys gives me some food for thought.  The old back isnt as good as it used to be all that bending, really fancy a 2 post lift but would need to be made to use outside, i'm sure its doable. If I work on 2500kg should be ok

How heavy are our vans?

I was having a look around at 2 post car lifts, but I dont really know how heavy my vans are. tin top syncro with 5 cylinder engine, and devon Aircooled. Anyone got any ideas?  Came across single post car lifts but dont think they would be any good for a T3. Comments please

Re: Heavy steering and getting worse

Aidan my tyres are about 6-7 years old but havnt got that many miles on them, maybe 7-8k. loads of tread still and no excessive wear. It is possible that they have aged, but wet and dry road grip is still very good with no apparent reducion.

Re: Heavy steering and getting worse

Yep trolley jack under each wishbone just like MOT. If you leave fully jacked up, you can turn the wheels from either side, its a bit heavy I must admit, but doesnt feel as if anything is seizing up. Might have to pop
track rod ends and try again. Are racks servicable?

Re: Heavy steering and getting worse

Just had a check around, jacked up each front wheel in turn then both. All seems to be fine, very easy to turn from underneath once off the ground, dont think rack or relay box or steering joints or ball joints are a problem. all is normal. Guess I will have to consider EPS? Only thing I have done i...

Re: Heavy steering and getting worse

Tyres are in very good fettle, and the heavy steering has always been an issue with Daphne, even with brand new spanking tyres, what I meant about tyres spot on was that they wear pefectly flat so i'm fairly sure the geometry is ok. Put new lower ball joints on about 3000 miles ago, top would appear...

Heavy steering and getting worse

The steering on my 1982 Aircooled has always been heavy, its now bl----y heavy. tyre wear is spot on what it should be, could it be the relay box? I understand its not greasable, but is that true? Could it be steering rack? again no play whatsoever. Where should I start?

Re: Camperjam 2019 results...

It was a blast of a weekend, the course was getting really cut up bumpy and very chalenging by the time we finished on sunday. The Camperjam crowd were loads of fun, completely blown away by our syncro antics, had a Landy driver in mine who just didnt believe how capable our vans are, he was convinc...
