Re: Loss of Peak District rights of way
Right you lot - if you want to continue to drive the Peak Park, I suggest you start by emailing the following with your concerns/feelings etc and then copy and post this anywhere and everywhere you think may be appropriate.: Peak Park Right of Way: rightsofway@peakdistrict.gov.uk Parish Council Cler...

Loss of Peak District rights of way
Hi All, don't post often but for those of you who enjoyed the event in the Hope Valley, a quick update from Nimby Central. It seems that a cohort of people who have moved to the Valley - along with some farmers and landowners who would ban anyone from their land if they had the power - have decided ...

Re: Dai you are a bad man!!
Hi Jed - if you look at the pics of Syncrostans and Ghias they both have them. Think Mike had an additional bit to carry his HiLift at the opposite end to the hinge, not sure I would want to add that weight to the unsupported end of the carrier, the leverage on the body must be huge. Or you could lo...

Re: Dai you are a bad man!!
Good points, well made. So, let me get this straight - they would not be particularly good but there is nothing else available? I have asked a client in the lifting market to find me some rated eyebolts of a size and strength to suit, they were not overly confident in finding any but I will keep eve...

Re: Dai you are a bad man!!
And what, pray tell, is wrong with gate hinges?
Aidan, you kit snob!!
Long thread eyebolts are available at several times the price and so far I have not found any that will be sufficiently long.

well there are folks on here and on Brick-Yard who have a hi-lift on the spare wheel carriers that Pete has made for them.

Re: Rock Sliders
Don't the cross members catch & snag on rocks?
The price is very good and as you say not reliant upon the jacking points.
My concern was always that you could get the sliders jammed into the jacking points if you kinked the bar.

Re: Rock Sliders
Good idea - galv is only a coating so I guess so.
Will go ask a welder and report back.

Re: Rock Sliders
Hi Jed - suggested that a while back but someone said they were galvanised, IIRC galv gives of carcinogenic fumes when you try to weld it. So I looked elsewhere. If you know of some that are mild steel then I would be interested but I guess the wall thickness would not have the inherent weakness to ...

Re: Rock Sliders
Wow! £115 for sacrificial sliders - and I though I had chucked money at my van The tube is cheap as chips, two pieces of smaller thicker wall tube to go into the jacking point, a circle of steel to cap the ends, spray them black. Off to price it all up, but £115 is too rich for me, I shall definitel...

Re: Dai you are a bad man!!
Tested earlier today with a Merc ML with an MT fitted and the space vanishes pretty quickly. There is certainly no room at the handle end and I think it would be very foolish to cantilever all that weight off the body. Mounting it on the hinge end would be a better option, the wheel weighs enough on...

Re: Rock Sliders
I am interested, but with my new found welding talent I am going to have a crack at fabbing a pair myself.
Simple mild steel tubes with capped ends, was also thinking of mounting it to the cross members rather than the jacking point so I don't lose the use of them. Joint project perhaps?
Cheers, Paul
