Long thread eyebolts are available at several times the price and so far I have not found any that will be sufficiently long.

well there are folks on here and on Brick-Yard who have a hi-lift on the spare wheel carriers that Pete has made for them.

Don't the cross members catch & snag on rocks?
The price is very good and as you say not reliant upon the jacking points.
My concern was always that you could get the sliders jammed into the jacking points if you kinked the bar.

Good idea - galv is only a coating so I guess so.
Will go ask a welder and report back.

Hi Jed - suggested that a while back but someone said they were galvanised, IIRC galv gives of carcinogenic fumes when you try to weld it. So I looked elsewhere. Tested earlier today with a Merc ML with an MT fitted and the space vanishes pretty quickly. I am interested, but with my new found welding talent I am going to have a crack at fabbing a pair myself.
Simple mild steel tubes with capped ends, was also thinking of mounting it to the cross members rather than the jacking point so I don't lose the use of them. Joint project perhaps?
