Re: Buying new alternators???
I've tryed locking it with a screwdriver, All I acheived was to bend the fan blades(?) and take a sizable chunk of skin off my knuckles! The alternator won't split apart without remove the pulley wheel assembly first and if I could get that off...

Re: Carrying a kayak
But none of that helps any of us with a pop-top... E D I T: Sorry should have been a little more specific. That won't work on a side tilting pop-top (Devon etc). Also how far out would the support strut stick in order to take the load evenly? Also that would only fit on the opposite side of the slid...

Re: Do you use a jubilee clip on your gas hose?
I was told a while back by one of the workers at a local caravan site, that is was against regulations for them to use jubilee clips on gas bottle hoses (static caravans). This is so they can quickly remove the gas bottle in the event of a fire or emergancy. Now I get that, as bottles are kept outs...

Re: Camper Heating??
I salvaged mine when my sister had a new kitchen fitted, free is such a nice word! You can pick the up new for about £60-70. Not really cheap but much cheaper than propex etc.

Re: Camper Heating??
240v kitchen kick board heater wired into the hook-up. Runs on a 5a fuse and gets the van toasty in 5 minutes. Downside, only works in campsites.
But thats fine for family trips and if I'm just surfing somewhere I wear more clothes!

Re: which bed!?
You can't feel the mesh through the foam (I've got 4" Blue foam, the firm stuff). As to fixing. I got some 1" webbing with ladder lock buckles stiched into the coverings. Just threads through the mesh and pulls tight on the buckles. I've got 4 on both seat and back..

Re: which bed!?
The volkswares bed does need a platform building the same as bluebird. Its does extend to1.9m which means it comes quite forward in the van (about a third of the of the width of the side door.) We've got a full width and the result is nearly the same size as a king size bed, its only 50mm narrower! ...

Re: Advantages of fitting a larger alternator
Mine was a standard 45ah which I swapped for a 90ah. Other than needing a slightly longer belt (1100 instead of a 1050) I've had no other issues at all. Just really happy batteries!

Re: Fridge RM122
Look at the data plate inside the fridge. Left hand side I think. If its a 122 it will only have 12v and gas info. 123 was 3-way. If you want to run a 122 on 240v. Wire a 12v plug on it with a 6a fuse and plug it into the cigerette lighter when driving and buy a 240v-12v transformer for the hook-up....

The T25 is a pop top and it has less issues with wind than a T4 tin top, its just an observation regarding the stabilty of my T25.
