clutch slave cylendar
I replaced my clutch master cylendar last year on my 1987 Joker. It sat for a few weeks this winter, I started her up and the clutch went to the floor . There was fluid loss so I replaced my slave cylendar and it was fine until about three weeks had gone by and again, no clutch or fluid loss. I bled...

gearbox oil change
My gearshift changes seem to be getting less smooth. It's getting harder to go from 1st to 2nd. Also I notice more heat coming from the gearshift boot. I've researched Wiki and the forum and want to change the gearbox oil on my 1987 1.6l diesel 5 speed. I doubt it has been changed or filled for some...

Re: Engine Vibration
Just to complete this string, I replaced the muffler with new brackets and decreased the idle speed. It purrs like a kitten with little engine vibration. Thanks to all for the help.

Re: T25 engine bay insulation ??
I just took my splash guard off to replace the muffler and check the engine mounts. There was some foam insulation on the side of the oil and fuel filters. It was hard to know what it originally looked like because it was soaked with oil/diesel fuel. Under that it was seriously rusted through. I men...

Re: Engine Vibration
Jamesc76, Sorry, I didn't mean any disrespect to the trade. It was more the way the mechanic said it than what he said. The message was more like..... I welded it and fixed it but if it breaks again maybe it's just old rubber mounts. That's all I can do for you.... I didn't get a serious diagnosis o...

Re: Engine Vibration
After the mechanic welded the bracket the second time I asked why it kept breaking. He said as an after thought "The engine mounts may be old" and "It's a poor design". The third time I was on the road and just wanted a quick fix so I could continue my trip. So, no, I don't parti...

Engine Vibration
Hi all, I have a 1.6TD that vibrates and keeps breaking the end muffler mounting bracket. I've had it welded three times now. One mechanic said the engine mounts were old and had lost their flexibilty. I've adjusted the idle to 1200rpm to reduce the shake but thats a temp fix. Should I replace the m...

My clutch master cylinder is leaking. I'm going to replace it but I read that it the master cylinder has failed the slave isn't far behind. Should I replace this as well just to be safe?

intermittant heater
I had a problem with my heater cutting out and loss of coolant. Took it to a garage and found the water pump was leaking. I replaced it and the thermostat. Last trip I had the heater quit on me again but for just a few minutes. I thought there must be another leak but no loss of coolant. What else c...

Operating a Diesel
I'm the proud owner of a Westy 1987 1.6TD. Never having a diesel before, I have questions about operating and routine maintenence. How often should the oil/filter be changed? Fuel filter? Air filter? How fast is the 1.6TD designed to run? It will do 100kph at 4000 rpm, or 110 at 4200rpm. I understan...
