Re: Slow Diesel Starting
Great stuff, took me a while to work out the problem on my JX (with help from these forum guys), and haven't had any more fuel problems, always got new filters from Brickwerks

Re: Slow Diesel Starting
Hey, your problem is almost certainly caused by the fuel filter (right hand back of the bulkhead in the engine compartment). It has a one-way valve in it that prevents the fuel draining back to the tank. I had exactly the same symptoms, replaced filter (from Brickwerks) and the problem was fixed. Ho...

Re: Jx problems
Hey, my JX had got really sluggish, like the turbo wasn't working. The LDA is critical to the turbo being effective, it's a sort of enrichment device to get more fuel into the engine to mix with the extra air that the turbo is pushing in. If the LDA is faulty, the engine performance is like there's ...

Re: 1.6TD - what's this wee pipe on inlet manifold?
Hey RogerT, your pipe should definitely go from the spigot thingy on the intake manifold to the top spigot on the LDA. When you put your foot down, the intake manifold creates a bit of a vacuum, this acts through the pipe and moves the LDA shaft (a bit like distributor vacuum advance) to provide mor...

Re: Any tips please
Hey, I had a similar problem with my Westie table, and it would come loose as well as squeak. I'd tighten the knobs so hard that they almost ripped the skin off my hands, but they still slowly loosened. When I looked closely, it seemed that the pointed end of the knob screws just weren't tightening ...

Re: 1.6 jx struggles to start.
Hey Ringo, check the fuel filter (on the right hand engine bulkhead). It has a non-return valve in it, which prevents fuel draining back to the tank. I had the same problem as you, replaced the filter and all was hunky dory after that. Cranking your engine for 20-30 seconds pulls the fuel all the wa...

Re: Problem starting my t25 1.6td when cold
Hey Gozz, I guess it would take a while for the engine to fire after you've changed the filter, as the filter and lines are empty of fuel. Maybe it'll be ok next time? Who knows. You can check if the glow plugs are getting volts by connecting a 12v meter (or a bulb if no meter) to one of the plug to...

Re: Problem starting my t25 1.6td when cold
Hey Gozz, I had the same problems a while back, and replacing the fuel filter cured it. The filter has a non-return valve in it, that prevents the fuel slowly draining back to the tank when you haven't used the van for a few days. The valve on mine had failed (the filter was only about two years old...

Re: Any advice on LDA thingy on JX engine??
Hey, thanks for the advice and explanations. I tried disconnecting and plugging the pipe, and I'm pretty sure the performance degraded a bit. I also tried the bit about pulling the rod all the way out and letting go. I'd blocked the inlet bit, but the rod moved straight back. It was clearly under so...

Any advice on LDA thingy on JX engine??
Hey experts, I've trawled through most of this and other sites for clues as to how the LDA device works on a JX engine. I first took notice of it when I saw a fuel leak from around the pivot, and have fixed this with a new seal from the Brickwerks posse. I'm a bit mystified as to how the whole LDA b...

Re: Rear wardrope help?
Hey, I took out the rear wardrobe and top cupboard that attaches to it. Still have both, only snag is that it's in Westy grey. If you fancy it, I'm sure 50 notes would be a good price.
