Re: Gear Selection Issue

Just wanted to say a thank you to all involved for help. It's my van Tom was borrowing. Thankfully it turned out to be an alignment issue with the gear selection, easily sorted by Stef at MAC VW this morning, and no parts needed. Happy days :ok

Re: Rear facing child seat

Fit a buddy seat behind the passenger seat, then they will be rear facing all the time. Plus they are nearer to you so you can pass them drinks and snacks from the passenger seat, makes for a much more peaceful journey :ok

Re: 3 point seat belt help?

Quickfit (nothing to do with kwikfit) in Middlesex are supposed to be brilliant, they supply and fit, and are probably less than an hour from you? Pretty sure they do loads of colours too :D

Re: Booster seats

My eldest used a booster until the lap part of the seat belt sat across his lap and not his stomach, and youngest still uses one (he's 7). A friends kid was in a small collision in a minicab, he wasn't on a booster and the belt went into his stomach and he was seriously injured. Lap belts aren't ide...

Re: rock n roll bed advise

Not got one in the van but do have one in the spare room. It is a great sofa bed but I'm not sure it would suit in the van without a lot of modifying. The legs are pretty insubstantial and the frame is pretty loose, which is fine in the house but i wouldn't trust it in a crash. Also it is not held i...

Re: dog travelling safetly....

We usually use a crate too, ours sleep in one at home so they are used to it. If the van is really full though we use the harness hooked onto the seat belt. They both sleep as soon as we start moving anyway.

Re: compressor fridge is the way to go!

Been looking at these and found this on e-bay, looks a bargain, only £110. Too big for the mini space I have but might suit someone. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coolmatic-rpd-65-refrigerator-12v-24v-camper-horsebox-/300655028950?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item46006faad6#ht_500wt_1211...

Re: U.S. Road Trip

When I was 14 my family flew into LA and hired an RV and spent 2 months driving around, had the most amazing time. We only wild camped a bit as the national park sites were so fantastic and cheap, they also have amazing visitor programmes, the campfires talks and walks organised by the rangers were ...

Re: child gate for roof bed

We used a tomy beg guard that I adapted, but to be honest it was a right pain when not in use, and a bit of a pain when it was. The best I have seen was a mate who bought a cargo bungee thing and screwed hooks at the four corners of the bed and for it to hook onto. Dead simple and packed away small.

Re: How do I fix a baby carrier using a lap belt?

Just be aware that the JK seat belt is not always long enough, the Brickwerks one is significantly longer. While the JK one might be OK with a stage 1 and 2 seat, it would definitely not be long enough for a stage zero/baby car seat. Britax eclipse and prince are safe with lapbelts, halfords staff d...

Tomy do a bed guard that with a little messing with is great as a safety thing. Or a cab hammock, we have one from Bluebird and it is brilliant.

Re: Hammock / cab bunk

Eldest, 10, loves the cab bunk. It is higher than the bunk we had in the last van, but he's dead comfy, and he's not small. Let her play in it a bit first to get used to it, she'll be cool.
