Re: Very Depressed - Engine Overheating

Were the front wheels as warm too??? did you come down any steep hills?? Engine will not heat the rear drums up from radiant heat (the rest of the van would be blooming hot too...) sounds like a poss problem with the brakes, but this would not cause the engine to overheat.. it must be driving very ...

Re: Very Depressed - Engine Overheating

Of course I know you are right, but I have just been convincing myself that it was somthing to do with brakes I did txt him on the same day that I picked up the van once I had arrived at Camperjam about it overheating so I have covered myslef a bit. They have a really good rep as well. I will call ...

Re: eberspacher not getting hot

You may have to replace the glowplug - they don't last forever. However, I think they are around £15 - and easy to fit.

Re: which engine type best to look for?

£5500 with a step like that, I would walk away you should not have any rust issues other than maybe a little seam rust for that king of money. There a good vans around for £5500 without rust like that. I agree. You have to ask yourself what rust like that tells you - i.e. that the previous owner(s)...

Re: lost confidence in van - extremely fed-up...

Thanks guys for all the support. yesterday i just wanted shut of it and was indeed considering upgrading to a T4. Thing is we have invested far to much money in this van now and no idea what it'd be worth if we sold it, but doubt we could afford a suitable spec T4, esp as it would have to be able t...

Re: 1.6 CT Aircooled?

Well I have a CU and thats isnt powerful enought. Things can be dome like getting a better carb which would push an extra 10-20 horses but my advice is steer well clear. They are just guttless Paul Honest, but true! They are guttless - the previous owner of my cu had wacking great new webbers put o...

Re: lost confidence in van - extremely fed-up...

Broke down last night for the 4th time in just over a month! Van wouldn't start, nothing. Tried to bump start it with a few nice guys pushing me but it wasn't happening. A while later i tried again and it did start but my buzzer came on which lets me know my lights are left on. (engine was running ...

Re: Woe is me! Death rattle?

Tell me more. Is this some kind of backlash due to the keyway slot or something? or has it come loose from the boss? Or does it do more than just drive abelt. Big eds will bang on sharp throttle pick up and particularly if laboured at low revsd. They will also rattle as you come off the throttle wh...

Re: Tyres

Many thanks - but not a straight forward answer lol. Well I guess that the VW spec was as the van left the factory - ie before the conversion to a camper. So that would have to be taken into account.

Re: Woe is me! Death rattle?

Glad you got it sorted but I am surprised at your comments regarding the T25 what you have is an old vehicle and the bay is even older . The part you needed is not normally a part that breaks so its going to be hard to find but you got one in the end . If you want trouble free motoring buy a T4 or ...

Re: Woe is me! Death rattle?

An update....fan hub and new fan belt fitted. Definitely alot better on the clanking front, but not perfect. Apparently where the previous hub had worn and been damaged, the crank end has also some wear as a result. The van lives again...kind of. But my real question is, this is a CU 2 litre engine,...

Just drive carefully or buy a new T5 if you need airbags! Can't imagine that it is viable to retrofit.
