You may have to replace the glowplug - they don't last forever. However, I think they are around £15 - and easy to fit.

£5500 with a step like that, I would walk away you should not have any rust issues other than maybe a little seam rust for that king of money. There a good vans around for £5500 without rust like that. I agree. You have to ask yourself what rust like that tells you - i.e. that the previous owner(s)...

Many thanks - but not a straight forward answer lol. Well I guess that the VW spec was as the van left the factory - ie before the conversion to a camper. So that would have to be taken into account.

An update....fan hub and new fan belt fitted. Definitely alot better on the clanking front, but not perfect. Just drive carefully or buy a new T5 if you need airbags! Can't imagine that it is viable to retrofit.
