Re: When replacing the turbo on my AAZ do i need sealant?
I am in the process of completing my AAZ conversion. With regards the turbo and exhaust manifold seal I read the article in the WIKI pedia and cleaned up both surfaces with fine sandpaper. It took an age to sand through the pitting on both surfaces. Hopefully I will have a reaonably good seal. I rea...

Re: AAZ conversion issue with revving the engine
I have been doing that for at least the last two months. Waiting for the sun to warm up and going into the house every half an hour to thaw out my hands. I must be a glutton for punishment. It is all worth while once the engine starts, all previous hardships pale into insignificance. Roll on summer ...

Re: AAZ conversion issue with revving the engine
Thanks for your help. I adjusted the positition of the centre screw and the engine now revs up OK with the accelerator pedal. I have a leaking sump windage gasket plus one other oil leak to sort and we will be back on the road after a 5 month layoff. Working on van engines outside over the last few ...

AAZ Sump options
Just wondering if it is possible to use a sump from a 1.7D on an AAZ type engine from a donor vehicle, Golf for example? Anybody got any ideas?

Cheers Ringo. Think i'll keep the van as is for the moment yeh. Driving it up from Norwich back home to Bradford next weekend so will see how that goes.. Going to check out the local scrapyards for Golfs or Ibizas when I get the chance. A low mileage, rear ended example would be perfect! Cheers for ...

Hey guys. I've just bought a T25 Crewcab with a 1.7D in it atm. Just got a few more engine related questions. Which 1.9 comes most recommended, a 1Y or an AAZ? Obviously one has turbo and one not, so what's the difference in general MPG, driveability etc? Also do they both fit straight in, or is muc...
