Re: Engine Conversion Muse... Subaru or not Subaru
The valve seat issues are worrying Let's be clear on this - the Subaru engines are cracking engines, good for 200,000+ miles with very little work - our 1998 Legacy EJ20 (non-turbo) has now done 168,000 miles and all I've done in the last 60,000 of those is oil, filters, a cambelt and brake pads/di...

Re: Engine Conversion Muse... Subaru or not Subaru
My tuppenceworth: My T25 was originally a DF-engined petrol auto. Underpowered, thirsty, lumpy (turned out to be a blowing head gasket) and basically a disappointment I replaced that with a DG engine, then converted it to LPG and eventually twin-carbed it, still with the LPG. That was actually a rea...

Re: Fuel and Temp gauge woes
If the gauges are playing the same game, it's likely to be that the supply or ground is wobbly
Check the dashboard ground is good. Then see if you can get your hands on a spare voltage regulator and swap that in
My guess is the voltage regulator is going to be the problem

Semi-educated guess says that's the original plug for the stereo

Re: oil switches which way round
The one on the pump is the low pressure switch
The one on the side of the block is the high pressure one

Re: Automatic Transmission Driveshaft
Unless there's damage to the driveshafts themselves, I see no benefit in buying second-hand driveshafts. Let's face it, you have no guarantee the CV's will be in any better condition That said, I do have a pair of driveshafts (from a 1.9 auto ) with CV's still attached that are going spare. I can qu...

To flush or not to flush, that is the question
Simple one, I hope One of the heater hoses on my van blew and all the coolant came out. I've got new pipework now (thanks Spannerboy) and am going to be refilling the system this evening. But there's quite a lot of evidence of rust in the header tank - at least, it's got a tan coating on it :D Since...

Hey Peet
Whereabouts in West Sussex are you based then? We're just down the road near Petersfield and our local (Hoonah's bug shack) are great boys but they aren't experienced with T25's. Would love to come see what you're up to and talk ideas

Sanity check
Agreed on the wiring arrangement But can I suggest you plumb the whole lot together outside the van and make sure: 1) it works 2) you "like" the sound 3) you can put up with your horn sounding like an asthmatic Seriously - I've NEVER heard a sequenced air-horn play anything like the tune t...

Re: Battery kill switch - Radio drains power
Thats absolutly perfect, nice and simple. Thanks very much Richard :ok You're more than welcome. Just make sure you get the right wire - sometimes the red and yellow wires do the exact opposite of what I've described! :? You'll know you've got the right one when the stereo remembers the radio stati...

Re: Battery kill switch - Radio drains power
dirtyroger, before you start worrying about a kill switch, it may be that you've just got a hungry stereo. What brand is it? How new? What sort of power output? Also (most importantly) how's it wired up? Car stereos have two +12v power leads - a red one and a yellow one. Normally, the red one is the...

Re: Who makes engine adaptor plates?
Thanks for the pointers all. I have to admit, I've chickened out and decided to go the manual/diesel route, so will just go for a T25 diesel lump  It's my local supplier's fault - he bigged up a 5-cylinder Audi diesel conversion and now says it's not on the cards  Thanks for the suggestio...

Re: Weber Carburettor Conversion Kit
another thought on webber carbs, there were plenty of fords with webbers, there must be loads out there, they could be jetted to work ? The thing about Weber carbs is that they're twin-choke carbs: Twin chokes = lots of air = lots of fuel = lots of power But because both chokes open simply based on...

richardprint If you haven't seen my reply to your Wanted ad, have a look. Ours is the one Fritz is going on about. kit is right, it's big enough for P T Barnum to become agoraphobic, if you use it with the three ribs as a single area, but if you want "some extra space" you can't get more ...

Who makes engine adaptor plates?
Hi all Sorry for the dumb question, but are there any sources of engine adaptor plates? I've heard about "Famous Phil" on VWKD, who used to make adaptors for the Peugeot engines, but are there any companies left? I'm looking to put a diesel lump on my auto, so can't do the old bellhousing ...
