Re: Weird starting/battery problem

I've just had the same problem and I think it's the earth for the starter, if there is such a thing- connecting a jump lead to the chassis and then clipping the other end to the starter gets it going every time......

Is the starter earthed to the engine through the top bolt?

Re: 1.6 n/a to JX Upgrade Help Needed

Haven't been inside the JX yet, if it's knackered then I've not lost too much cash and I'll consider something else. It's just that the van is in Scotland with no engine, and I figured (because I have a great mechanic mate who'll talk me through the rebuild) the cheapest way to get it back on the ro...

1.6 n/a to JX Upgrade Help Needed

I've recently found a good JX lump and am gonna put it in my van to replace a normally aspirated 1.6 which blew up on me. What I'm wondering is what I'll need to get bits-wise to complete the upgrade... I've got the old engine and all the bits, and I've now got the main block of a JX with alternator...

Campervan Sound/Heat Insulation Confusion

Ok I'm gonna soundproof and insulate my panel van prior to having a 1z fitted, wanna do it myself as much as possible as the engine is gonna be pricey. I've searched a lot on this and other forums but my specific questions never quite get answered..... Do I apply sound proofing material first direct...

Pardon me if I'm missing the point guys, but why wouldn't you want to say the manifacturer or particular type of pump- I thought this was supposed to be a forum for the sharing of all or any information pertaining to the Type 25, why would you keep tight-lipped about info that could help a lot of pe...

Thanks mate I've just spoken to my uncle and he says that there are 6 wires in total coming off the engine- how many should there be on a 1y? It's really frustrating 'cos I'm trying to do this over the phone, but they can't find any indication that it's even a 1y.........can anyone tell me where to ...

1Y Help Needed

Hi all, I've got a lovely T25 with a fried 1.6 standard diesel in the back lying at my family's garage, and it's awaiting surgery to fit a 1.9 1Y engine from a golf. My uncle's the mechanic there so I've scourged this forum and Brickyard to find any relevant details on performing such an operation, ...
