Mine had a spiiting noise not so long back (2ltr Aircooled), turned out to be a small hole in one of rubber pipes which attach to the carbs. Van now sorted :D :D After the orginal problem with the starter. Would appear that I also had a partial blockage in the fuel line. Prior to starter motor going the van always started first time. Have taken a look at the gearbox bush currently in and from what I can see it appears to be intact and not chewed up. Do you have to replace the bush when putting on a new starter motor? If you don't what are the consequences? Cheers Sh...
