Re: Choke will not set with accelerator
I'm expecting some fine tuning, but mine is now a lot further round than when I took it off. Have you tried turning it to the extreme?

Re: Choke will not set with accelerator
When I took mine off, I'm 90% sure that the spring wasn't even on the arm.

Re: Choke not working
Fingers crossed, my choke is now working, I'll try again tomorrow after work From what I could see, the spring wasn't even located and the housing is now in a completely different position On another note, I bought a breather pipe, but the tower has been turned by 180 degrees and just had a pipe goi...

Re: Choke not working
Hello, can anyone please explain the mechanical process of setting the choke by pressing the accelerator? My choke does not close either and I can see no mechanical means of it closing, I would have expected a cam action on a spring of some sorts. Thanks this may help explain http://onemanspanner.w...

Re: advice please speedo cable stuck in steering knuckle
How did I feed the new cable through then? Goes through with the greatest of ease. The end of the cable is squared - there is no fitting. There's no fitting at the clock/binnacle end, but you have the fitting where the circlip sits on the outside of the cap at the other and get he can't get at that.

Re: advice please speedo cable stuck in steering knuckle
The cable should be able to be withdrawn from the sheath at the binnacle end. Then with a suitably sized drift inserted that is just larger than the cable knock the sheath back out. (It isn't just being held tight by the rubber grommet though is it? - it does hold it in quite tight.) The circlip wo...

Re: advice please speedo cable stuck in steering knuckle
If it's buggered, is it possible to cut it off on the inside and use something to knock it back through and out the 'wrong' way?
Thinking maybe an old posi screwdriver or metal rod slightly smaller than the cable diameter

Re: Choke not working
Note to Verne, remember that breather hose is a vacuum hose with lots of oily fumes in it. This means you cannot use any old bit of hose that fits. as also said the air cleaner trunking connects to the oil tower and Brickwerks sell the pipe but currently out of stock, I have seen standard pipe used...

Re: Temp Gauge Red Light
thanks marlinowner, it was indeed low on coolant
the expansion tank was so dirty, what I thought was the level of coolant was in fact a tide mark
bit of a clean and checking the level through the filler hole it is now at the required level

Temp Gauge Red Light
I've had the red light in the temperature gauge flash at me on a couple of occasions, but the gauge itself was at normal temperature and it looks like the levels are correct. First time was when I took Keif for MOT, nothing untoward on the journey there. Mot tester started him up to drive him in to ...

Re: Choke not working
Thanks guys, that gives me something to go at :ok finally you should remove that fuel filter from your engine bay, they are not designed to take the heat, there should be just one by the tank underneath. I fitted that filter last night, as the old one that was there was passed it's best. I do have t...

Re: Choke not working
Thanks for the response, but I think mine is slightly different to the carb in your pics. The black unit on mine looks as though it has 2 connections, the one that can be seen in my pic and another directly below it (unfortunately, hidden by the fuel pipe) The lower one loops under the carb to the f...
