I now have sorted the problem! I put in a thermostat from a VW Corrado V6 1992 which opens at 79C instead of the 87C standard one. It now runs just below the led in the centre. The guy I bought it from had it for 7 years and said it always ran to the left of centre. Maybe he had a lower temp. termostat?

My 1.9 runs hot i have changed the thermostat twice, bled it repeatedly, the needle stays just to the right of the centre, if left ticking over the fan comes on.
