Thanks for the replys - the alarm doesn't arm because it thinks the door is open, the alarm won't arm if the lights off - no one has messed with the electrics since the alarm was fitted and that has been fitted for ages. Very odd but having it checked out today.

In two years this has only happen to me once and it was last week - possibly because I was thrashing it going uphill and overtaking - bad chunk bad, just needed a bit more oil and I mean a bit it was just one the last dot have done 400 miles since with no problems.
