Re: VW rear wheel carrier - bushes

Hi Simon. Thanks for the reply. Rubber bung also split on mine and I've just put lots of tape around it. Same 'door stop' thought had occured to me. We'll see who finds one first. When I dare take pivots apart I'll let you know what I find. Unless someone tells how to do it I'll probably put this of...

VW rear wheel carrier - bushes

Hi there. I'm furtunate enough to have an original VW rear spare wheel carrier on my 16" syncro. The pivots have quite a lot of play in them and this makes the whole thing a bit wobbly. I assume it's due to wear to the bushes and/or pivot pins. However it's not obvious to me how to get the pivo...

Hi simon Dec92 is registration date. Not checked when it was made yet. Doesn't look like an ambulance as has large white aero roof on it, in fact doesn't really look like a t3!. Will look better when all same camo. Will post some pics when I get a camera. not able to play with it 2day. Pump was clic...

Eberspacher BW5 night heater on syncro

Hi all sorry it's just a heater question but because fuel tank is rear mounted it's kind of syncro specific. Just trying to get the night heater working on my Dec92 ex-finish ambulance 16incher. Fan starts like a 747 jet (If I ever get it going I'll need ear plugs). Glow plug seems to warm up. Then ...

eberspacher B5W heater : fuel supply

Hi there any one that knows about these heaters. Just tring to get my the eber B5W going. It's on a Dec92 ex finish army syncro 16". Fan comes on like a 747 Jet, glow plug warms up. Fuel pump clicks away rapidly but no fuel is delivered (if I pull pipe off nothing is coming out) How long does i...

I once took one of the roll-pins out for the speedo drive using an ever so slighlty tapered punch. This was a mistake as it broke off a bit of the casting  . Still when I refitted it there was just enough casting left to hold the pin.The moral is use something parallel sided to knock the pin ou...

Got a proper jackall from pinzgauer days. Never used it, pretty hard to get a pinny stuck! I didn't know it could be used on a T3. Wouldn't want to carry it all the time as so big and heavy but would be good for some situations. Does landy adaptor just fit into normal T3 jacking points?

New starter fitted after lots of swearing, must get a jack! Started first time. Also replaced braded engine earth strap to be sure. Then cut out half the ambulance wiring and very suprised it still started!, bit like defusing a bomb... which wires to cut? Bulkhead now out, MOT now this friday and th...

just found it in the mud with a kids metal detector! Probably lose it when I'm putting it in anyway and it'll be back to the nail.

It's nice on this van how when u push the rod it glides smoothly out without having to spend several hours trying to free it. At least somethings going right :o

roll pin

yes that's the tem I was looking for:- "roll-pin" If I can wait till tomorrow I'll try and find one in sheffield now that I know the technical term. Otherwise I'll join you with a cut off nail. Last time I refitted one of these I also replaced the long thin bolts holding the actuator onto ...

diff lock - spring pins

Just taken starter out of my 16" DJ. I did this on another bus 5 years ago but had forgotton the pain. Almost makes me want to put a TDi in just so I never have to do it again. I suppose at least with this syncro there's virtually zero rust so makes it easier. Due to the adverse weather, bad mo...

steering

Thanks simon I'll have a look at that. SyncroG just been round and I've had a look at his Bentley, that helped. Before I collected the van the dash was taken out to fix a small but difficult dent on front panel, I just found main spacer between steering wheel and steering column column in the glove ...
