Re: RA/SB engine option
I fitted one in mine a couple of years ago, yep easy fit. The raise in the engine cover over the pump is hardly noticeable. My turbo started pushing oil past the seals last year so it was packed off to the turbo guy in Glasgow, it returned totally refurbed 4 days later and has been superb. I would w...

Won't pass an Mot?
May invalidate your insurance?
Lol anyone mentioned that to the number of Tvr owners who bough a car with no door handles lol
In addition to minor manufacturers folks have been shaving cars for years with no ill effects

Re: Water cooled turbo
I fitted a Saab 900 intercooler in the left hand space below the the vans behind the lights, it's a fairly well documented fitting particularly on samba.

Re: Water cooled turbo
Hi,
I used it in mine and it works fine, I've heard it doesn't really need the water connected and VW discontinued it not long after.
But as its a part of the engine I plumbed it in and it runs fine.

Yep, and very easy, you will need to pop the door cards off to access all the screws.

There isn't anyone locally who would be reccomended as a specialist I'm not even aware of any one locally who has done it.
I managed to do my td engines myself but you would be looking at Edinburgh or perhaps Glasgow for a "specialist"

Re: i like where the number plate is placed but is it legal ?
Hi At the risk of being bombarded by the I've had stickers on for ages with no problems and I've seen loads of cars with stickers on. :run Stickers aren't legal they by their design can't comply with the BSAU145d requirement. Yes you can put them on, can you get a ticket yes, will you tbh unlikely o...

Hi, I can confirm non of the local breakers have any of or vans in, the last one was davidsons at rora and that was a caravelle with solid windows. I would suggest if you cand find a shipper for the glass the best bet would be to pop up to Saint Gobain at Altens with a template and ask for them to g...

Re: Space above the transmission
Hi, There is only a very small pressing welded in transversely, I think the main structural ridgitity is kept by the engine bay bulkhead and the curve forming the slope down to the main cargo floor. The 4 hole tank from Gassure is supposedly a direct replacement for the origional westy tank, and I t...

Re: Space above the transmission
Bit of an update, I've been under with the measuring stick and there is a space 250x850 pretty free of obstructions bar the odd moveable pipe, and there is still plenty of clearance above the starter motor. So either http://www.gasure.co.uk/gasfit.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);retur...

Hi,
I looked into it early last year the struts are 450 n to get the right power and correct stroke was going to cost £200 each, needing one per end.
You can get 4 sets of struts for that and the struts open faster.
Cheers

Space above the transmission
Hi, I've a hankering for an external gass tank however after a great chat with Steve I can't fit a westy style tank as the van is a tad too low (5omm Avos) hand has insufficient ground clearance, putting it back to stock is no good as it needs to be this low just to fit in the garage door. I was won...
