Hmm. They are definately connected together properly on mine (i.e. from the factory not some bodge). If I am correct it also would explain why the clock no longer works, as it would be disconnected. I guess though it could be different on a different model of transporter, so I may be wrong. I would ...

Tailgate panel trim clips
hello, I bought some trim clips from JK to mount a mdf tailgate panel, but the holes are 8mm and the clips are barely wider than this, so they don't hold.. I've tried looking on ebay for wider clips, but can't find anything - does anyone know where I can get some clips that will hold it on properly?...
