Re: Water Pump Hose
Thanks guys, I hadn't even considered getting a hose to fit the wider end at the header and stopping down to the smaller connector on the pump. I'm guessing adding connections is to be avoided if at all possible, although I will check out the barbed connectors too. Yes will ensure garage don't rip m...

Re: Water Pump Hose
Cheers guys, Misses came back from GSF with a hose that was the correct size but wrong shape, bending it caused pinching so no joy. Decided to put the old one back on with some PVC tape tightly wrapped round the split section. Tightened the jubilee clip and took her out for a spin, up to temperature...

Re: Water Pump Hose
Hmm,
Thanks for reply kev. The misses has taken the hose today to see if somewhere has anything remotely usable. I remembered Gunzl Classic Parts before but they seem to have everything but that hose for the cooling system.
Will report back any info for future reference.

Water Pump Hose
Hi folks, I'm having to replace a couple of perished/split hoses on my van. The fuel hoses I can do but the hose that goes from my water/coolant pump to my header tank is causing me some confusion. This is mainly due to not being able to source a replacement. I've looked at VW Heritage, Brickwerks e...

Fuel Filler Neck Breather Pipe
Hi all, Had a search on Wiki and in the forum but couldn't find specifically what am after. I think I have a fuel leak from the top of my (new) tank where the breather pipe from the filler neck returns to the top of the tank. I've purchased the grommet that pops into the tank but I was wondering how...

Re: Fuel Tank Weatherproof Advice

Fuel Tank Weatherproof Advice
Hello again! I've bitten the bullet and called the garage for my non running westy. However, in the interests of not getting a total spanking from aforementioned garage I thought I'd get my own fuel tank (it needs a new one) and prep it myself ready for them to install it for me. Oh and GSF list sev...

Re: Non-Starter - About to call the garage!!
Okay, first chance I've had to get back to this since posting this a few weeks ago (my dad is here helping me too until tomorrow) So, we've done this today: replaced fuel filter (it was full of sh*t as suggested it would be) replaced plugs replaced dizzy and rotor replaced coil checked fuel pump - f...

I got one of these: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_206665_langId_-1_categoryId_165629" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Hope it does the job! It's German so that's a start right? Also, what engine have I got? I...

Which battery charger?
Hi, I have a very flat starter battery and a leisure battery that will soon be flat unless I get the van up and running soon. I need a charger. I've searched on here and found a few threads, I've had a look on Halfords and machinemart and basically I'm confused (as per usual). I don't know my slow t...

thanks - I'll get the Haynes out and have a look at where the starter is and try what you suggest before calling the dreaded garage!

Re: Non-Starter - About to call the garage!!
nothing happens at the engine end. Not a peep! No clunking or anything. no don't have a spare starter motor either... however... the starter motor was replaced last Feb by previous owner because the van wouldn't start after being in storage for a few months. The van isn't stored now but coincidental...

Re: Non-Starter - About to call the garage!!
I'll look for that lever!
I turn the key to start pos and if battery charged I get the red light on the dash blinking and the voltage gauge rises to 12-15v. If battery dead I get none of the above.

Non-Starter - About to call the garage!! UPDATE!!
Hi all, I'm a non mechanically minded owner of a 1985 1.9 Westy Hi-top which until two weeks ago was starting like a dream. I've not been running about since October except for starting it every day and going for a little spin to warm her up once a week. Two weeks ago it failed to start and I quickl...
