Re: Late DG sump plug issue, any info?
If your drilling attach an air pump to the dipstick to create some positive pressure in the crank case (not so much you burst anything :) ) if you drill to force the swarf out when you break through, start small and dead centre with a centre punch and open it out. Not a job I would like to do under ...

Re: Stuck in 4th Gear - Slowly falling out of love with the van.
diagnosis is disconect the linkage from the box where the ball sits in the socket. There are two bolts to undo and the linkage will lower down (note where the plate bolts to the gearbox as it can be bolted on either side but one side will restrict the throw) Once that's out of the way you can manual...

I could guarantee that the resistance will vary from van to van! you might be able to reuse the original wheel to keep it looking stock but with something like this behind it. http://playground.arduino.cc/Main/RotaryEncoders" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; some not only rota...

Re: Arduino ...
With the lights I would have a range of brightness in each colour, I think you did this with the green. Defo needs to remember last settings to be useful. With the dimable rotary wheel, I'd have it as an infinite scrollable wheel selector that does what you are doing with the button.

Re: Pros & Cons of Different T25 Standard Engine Types
my experience I had an Aircooled once, I wasn't a fan (no pun intended!) slow and thirsty, awkward to work on in situ. Some people seem to rate them but I cant see the attraction. If well serviced and you get a good one it should be reliable. You can get alternative heaters for the cab like a propex...
