Re: subaru conversion coolant hoses ?
Nice one. I couldn't resist. I fired mine up for 15 secs with no coolant or exhaust lol. Won't do any harm. Good luck!

Re: Porsche engine does it fit.
Oh and to answer your question did I do conversion. I done the ej22 conversion on last bus but bought the h6 bus from a mate. The install is pretty much the same for any normally aspirated subaru engine. gets a bit trickier with the turbo lumps. The conversion isnt to difficult tbh. If you can rout ...

Re: Heading down the Subaru route
EJ20 is a good engine and one of the most common engines to use for a conversion.

Re: Heading down the Subaru route
Good advice. Spare engine lurking in the garage is a good idea. Cheaper than a rebuild. But then a well looked after ej should be very trouble free.

Re: Heading down the Subaru route
Pretty sure you need the turbo clutch setup. The belhousing comes with very good instructions tho so not a problem. I've got loads of pics of ej22 conversion on my Facebook which I think are open to public if you search Chris fryer. My profile pic is a silver magnum multivan

Re: Heading down the Subaru route
I didn't do this install as bought it from my mate but looks pretty much the same as my ej22 conversion which I did. Main difference is the turbo clutch setup but rather than na one. Gearbox is just an AHU code originally mated to a 2.1. The exhaust is an rjes one but they have stopped selling them ...

Re: Heading down the Subaru route
Yea good point. I'm happy for now but may look into lpg in the future. Have you been in an h6 bus yet? I love it. Plenty of power yet very smooth

Re: Heading down the Subaru route
Will be interesting to see the results. Would be great if the flashlube works. I'd love to lpg my h6 as it is a bit thirsty at 23-26 mpg. The ej20 is about the same bhp as the ej22 depending on year I think and my 135bhp ej22 was great to drive. Depends what you want tho. Ej25 is a great compromise ...

Re: Heading down the Subaru route
Lpg does not suit subaru engines at all as the suffer from valve seat recession. My ej22 returned around 27mpg combined and 30-32mpg on a run if kept below 70. The ez20 has slightly more bhp and slightly better mpg I believe. Not sure if it's as tourqy tho
