Re: New jacking point
Thanks for the info, its the jacking frame that I was after as its become quite thin after chipping away at the rust. The actual jacking point as described seems to be sound ie. bottom of B pillar. I spoke to schofields and was told its on the list to be done but hasn't been put into production yet....

Re: Erratic idle DG engine
Just to update.... the choke vacuum pull down unit is shot on my Pierburg carb, I'm wondering
if the diaphragm in the pull down is letting air into carb and upsetting the system. Does this make sense or am I talking a load of.....

Re: FUEL TANK REMOVAL
Having taken my fuel tank out 2 or 3 times now in as many months ( currently to do some welding around the filler cap area) it's a straight forward job.

Ok I'll look into a replacement rotor arm.

Erratic idle DG engine
Hi all, I have an 86 Holdsworth camper with a DG engine. It sat on my drive for several months without being run but was working fine when I bought it at the end of last year. Its been running erratically, stalling and very lumpy at idle ( pierburg carb ) ever since I fired it up a couple of months ...

Can you hear the wiper relay clicking ? if not and you're sure the fuse is ok then your relay is probably faulty. If the relay is clicking then have a look at the wiper motor. Make sure you have correctly rated fuses, a couple of mine were rated too high which may have been why my rear wiper motor w...

Presumably you have a JX engine, if so, the cam cover breather hose should connect to the air intake hose just before the turbo. The air dump valve can also connect to the air intake but is also fine just venting to atmosphere which is the case with mine. Where is the oil actually coming from, the b...

Thats sound advice from Diamond Hell regarding doing stuff in the right order. The two manuals I've got tell you to lock the camshaft first with plate then loosen camshaft sprocket bolt , I guess this works ok if the bolt is torqued up correctly but its definitley worth cracking the nut before doing...

Be very careful when removing camshaft sprocket  I recommend a tool for counter holding the sprocket, something like this: http://james-thorogood.fotopic.net/p27970517.html http://james-thorogood.fotopic.net/p27970516.html Mines obviously home made but you must be able to buy one as there is o...

I had it all lined up when I took off the cambelt 2 weeks ago, the mark was obvious then and lined up perfectly. Its been sitting for 2 weeks minus the cambelt due to a 'problem' with the camshaft , now I'm ready to fit cambelt but the crankshaft has moved as has the mark on clutch plate. I found th...

Another cambelt changing question
After reading some stuff about more than one mark on clutch plate for aligning TDC on No1 cylinder I'm getting paranoid that I'm looking at the wrong mark. Heres a pic of my alignment, I've got cams for No1 cyclinder pointing upwards, does this look right? http://james-thorogood.fotopic.net/p2775760...
