Re: leaky oil pressure switch

Managed to get my hand near the switch and get rid of some of the oil on it. The colour on the switch is either grey or white...so would be either the 0.9 bar or 1.8 bar. Thats narrowed it down a bit I think. If I can't find any more info, I will probably order both. At least that way the garage wil...

Re: leaky oil pressure switch

I agree, I would rather know as early as possible..but don't want the buzzer going off all the time without good reason.
Do you happen to know what the oil pressure should be over 2000 rpm?? I cant seem to find out.

Re: leaky oil pressure switch

Thats what I think Ian.
My guess would have been the 0.9 bar...but not too sure
I wondered if the 1.4 and 1.8 bar switch would set the buzzer off all the time?
Having had the experience of the buzzer many times (due in the end to the dash circuit)
I dont think I could take it!!

Re: leaky oil pressure switch

Thanks for getting back so quickly! Right...I have had a look. The brown wire for the high pressure switch connects to a yellow one The brown wire for the low pressure switch (near pushrod tubes) goes to blue. According to Brickwerks site..there are three possibles: 0.9 bar 1.4 bar 1.8 bar Is there ...

leaky oil pressure switch

Sorry if this has already been covered on here before..I couldn't find any info We have an oil leak from the high pressure switch at the rear of the engine. The van is booked in to change it at the local garage and so I need to order one. Looking at JK's sit it seems there are different colours/rati...

funnily enough....ours feels "tacky" as well..... dunno what it is. We tht it might have been the previous owner used something on it to clean it and it would wear off in time... Ours is the same. Very tacky and looks as if there is a sticky coating on it thats starting to come off. Seems...

Mine is an '86 auto and it doesn't have PAS. As mine is fitted with hand controls, I need a steering ball anyway..they're great! The proper steering balls can cost £40-50 (the quick release one in my car is about £50.00) If you do fit a cheap one,I would check it fairly often for wear etc. Mine is u...

it's a 1.9 DG watercooled (1986 D reg)
The carb is going to be split and cleaned out when I get hold of a gasket for it.
I just cleaned the carb air box out..not the one that houses the filter, the one that bolts to the carb. there was a LOT of crud in there..nice and clean now though :)

Thought about Tatton tomorrow so..tried the van out tonight. It started first time but idled a bit fast...let the revs die down after a minute or so and took it for a spin round the block. I've found that once it gets warm, it revs its socks off! Without touching the pedal, it was running at about 3...

Hello msmallc My petrol gauge is a bit hit and miss too. The level can vary a lot after going around a corner or going uphill etc....I'm sort of used to it and as a rule know how much I've got left. As for starting...First thing in the morning I will press the pedal slowly down, release it and then ...

Update on the van

Update on the van. Had a look at the linkage this morning as we thought the cable had snapped. Turned out to be an easy fix though..the little pushrod under the pedal had come off the lever assembly. Started it up and it ran ok but fast. When you put it in gear it would stall (auto) My dad came up a...

The problem was down mainly to a knackered choke pull down unit and a mucky carb. Fritz kindly came around and saved the day by getting it running :D
Luckily enough we had a spare choke pull down on an old carb thats been lying around for years and it was in usable condition.

Hope to see you at Tatton...all being well.

Cheers
