Re: 1915 Dg 5 Speed 1990 Oil Warning Light Buzzer Of Doom
Had this issue a few years back. Problem started when I loaded the van with to many paving slabs and went up a little hill! Thereafter the buzzer would sound every so often. Typically when approaching a roundabout, slowing down in third, the buzzer sounded as I entered the roundabout then stopped as...

Re: Autosleeper stripe
Ok I can see your photo now, that is not the same as others I can see in Google Images. I did visit the factory about 15 years back. At the time you could still buy the edge stripe which consisted of gold/brown/gold three eighths of an inch wide in total and it was the gold that was at the edge. The...

Re: Autosleeper stripe
I don't agree with that, or maybe there is slight variation with age. The stripes are either one eighth inch or one quarter inch not metric. Also no brown above the top gold stripe. I can send you an old close up photo of the stripe from a 1986 if you give me an email address by pm.

Re: Heater Issues
My valve was replaced by a garage - had a replacement radiator at same time - the valve was less than £10 so not worth trying to repair.

Re: Heater Issues
Valve was replaced on mine yesterday, problem solved. The old valve let water through whether it was on or off and was also the cause of very slow coolant loss.

Re: Attaching an awning to a Komet
figure of 8 looks like would slide in...the rail in the picture looks exact same as my curtain tracks - even the measurements look right I agree, this looks like an upside down curtain rail because the gap where the beading of an awning might fit looks to be rectangular rather than round. You may a...

Re: Couple of roll out canopy/awning questions
Attach a metal bar the length of the canopy to stiffen it then attach that to the brackets. The centre of the bar would need support. It's getting a bit heavier now. I'm still in for pop riveting to the roof. As the roof is thicker than you think, you will need some longer rivets, I did. https://en...

Re: Couple of roll out canopy/awning questions
I suspect that if you use the sikaflex that is designed as a glue it may well hold but I wouldnt be confident about it and dropping a caravanstore on the motorway is just too scary even if it is unlikely. It would also be extremely difficult to remove should you need to in future. So I would prefer ...

Re: Mudflaps
Hutch bought a set of rears from me last week - don't think he would have taken them if he wasn't happy with quality. They were originally from JK. I have a set on my van and am happy with them - fronts good too, easy to fit. I don't know what SA ones are like, maybe the same.

Re: Replacing westy fluorescent tube with LED tube
Sorry no picture at the moment - my fittings are stripped out presently as I am fixing a leak in the roof! Don't think it would help much as mine is an Autohomes, different light fittings than a Westy.

Re: Replacing westy fluorescent tube with LED tube
I have what you refer to as the cheap one fitted in my van. They are probably nearly twice as bright as a normal T5 tube. Yes they are whitish but not so much as to be a problem to me. The covers on the light fittings I have are the frosted style so spreads the light adequately. From memory the foot...

Re: Replacement sliding windows -Autohome
I no longer have an autosleeper so cant look at mine to try and advise you. Doubt they are still made - guess windows in modern vans will be different. Yours are sliding opening ones. If you search ebay under something like VW T25 autosleeper window, you will find someone is breaking an autosleeper....

Re: Replacement sliding windows -Autohome
That's a photo of an Autosleeper window, not a Autohomes. Why would you want to replace them anyway?

Re: Correct battery for T3 1.9N/A D 1Y?
At least its good to know you are confident in your advice - just a question of finding where the faulty wire or earth is. Yes agree what you say about the ignition - did it anyway as very cheap and he was doing other work as well. The mechanic has been professionally working on vw campers for at le...
