Re: Inside of Headlight Glass Dirty. Cleaning Ideas Please.

UPDATE:  Thanks again Cobblers and also JeffRoo.  I'm liking the GoWesty video!  However, I'd already had a go at the 'Cobblers Method' this morning, and WOW! what a difference.  The lamps have just come out of the oven and look at least 90% better.  I tried to fashion a 'Giant Cottonbud' out of a r...

Inside of Headlight Glass Dirty. Cleaning Ideas Please.

Hi all, I searched but did not find so wondered if anyone else has experienced the above please? I got an MOT advisory yesterday that my headlights have 'poor beam pattern' and looking at them the insides of the glass fronts (lenses?) is filthy.  Has anyone else experienced this issue please, know w...

Re: Rear Fog Light Voltage Mystery

Thanks Robsey, now I realise what the switch positions are supposed to do. What my issue seems to boil down to is that with the switch set to what would be Front Fogs (if I had any, and I don't) the Rear Fog Light lights up dim (I have measured 4 volts at the bulb holder), and the tell-tale in the s...

Re: Rear Fog Light Voltage Mystery

Hi again folks, Many thanks to Chewbacca for the suggestions on some tests to carry out.  I have in the meantime studied and figured out the Current Flow Diagram in the Haynes Manual - and I understand these pretty well having had expert tuition in the past.  So I set out to try the tests, and decid...

Re: Rear Fog Light Voltage Mystery

Hi again, I need to get back to investigating this, but found a post by Kev the Rev who mentioned that his switch had an issue - which I think Kev was able to resolve.  However, new genuine/pattern replacement switches is not available, nor likely to be so I have started to think about a contingency...

Rear Fog Light Voltage Mystery

Hi all, 1989 RHD genuine UK van My rear fog light looked dim, so I started investigating.  I have discovered that the voltage between the feed wire to my rear fog light and the earth wire in the white plug on the back of the cluster is barely 4 volts.  All the other wires/lamps in the white plug are...

Re: Rear Fog Light Switch Tell-Tale lamp

Hi Folks, thanks for the posts, and here is an update from me, hoping it will help others:- So, I hadn't realised that there was a separate lamp in the switch, outwardly it is such a tiny thing I thought it must be integral to the switch as a whole. Anyway I discovered that although the switch does ...

Re: Hand brake on light

Also check under carpet/mat at base of handbrake lever. There is an earth connection there which is vulnerable to falling off/breaking off of the connector. Mended mine a few times!

Rear Fog Light Switch Tell-Tale lamp

Hi, Mine has burned out, don't know when, not sure it has ever worked in 12 years TBH, however, following the decision by Brickwerks to close their workshop I may need to branch out and organise my own MOT at some point soon, but not sure TBH how and why it has kept passing the test at Brickwerks lo...

Re: Paint Code for Carat Alloys?

Hi, Thanks for looking at my post, but this has turned out to be trickier than I thought! However, in the meantime I have found and ordered this:- http://www.thescratchdoctor.co.uk/alloy-wheel-rim-repair-kit-for-volkswagen/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and also discovered...

Hi,
Total sum: 294.40 GBP. That's tyres delivered. You then have to have them fitted, and balanced, and VAT etc.

Paint Code for Carat Alloys?

Hi, I need to touch up some minor blemishing on my OE Carat Alloys. Ideally I need to brush apply paint with a very small brush. Anyone know if there is such a thing as a paint code for these wheels please, and if so what it might be, and where I might get a pot of paint to that code? Many thanks, P...

Re: Tyres for T25 Carat 1989

I just bought 4 no of the stated Semperits from MyTyres.co.uk. They had to bring them in from Austria, which might be the nearest to Worthing that you will get any!

Re: Fuel tank filler pipe & vent pipe

I would start looking for the parts you need on the Brickwerks web-shop, if you don't find them there, and you really have searched properly, then phone them. Afternoons is best, it is mayhem there in the mornings! Michael is the man you need.
