Annoying Fridge Fan!!!!!!
Hi All, I'm in northern France with the new Westy Florida (sorry, I've gone over to the dark side!!), and loving it! However, the fan on the fridge will not stop, it goes on all night and all day and is getting a bit annoying. The outside temperature is hot, and is about 30 degrees in the van at nig...

Re: Chrome A pillar Trim
Hi Cruz,
Thanks for the reply. I wonder why mine has chrome trim then? Did the original Carat Westy's have black? My window rubbers all have the chrome trim, seems strange the pillar trim would be black.

Chrome A pillar Trim
Hi, I am currently having my van re sprayed and need to replace the exterior chrome trim on the A pillars. I have looked on Gunzl & VW Heritage and they only have black (see link: http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_A-pillar-Gutter-trim-T25-Right-side-2518537061BG_act_shop.product_pID_134056_lan...

Re: Westy fridge problem
Hi Both, Thanks for the replies, sorry for the delay, been away in van, lpg ran out, no UK adaptor to refill it and no fridge working on leccy!! I should really get that adaptor after 6 years of ownership! Anyway, plug is definitely plugged in, maybe it's time to get the fridge out! I did check on t...

Westy fridge problem
Hi All, Apologies for another fridge question! I have a 1990 lhd Westy with the Electrolux RM184 EGI fridge. The fridge has always worked on all three options, but having tested it today for the first time this year I cannot get it to work on 240v. It works fine on gas, I'm assuming it does on 12v t...

Re: Can You Identify the Missing Part?
Thanks guys, The water level is now right to the top in the 2nd resevoir. The wirring noise did worry me as it did not stop for a few minutes after the engine had been turned off. The engine seems fine, starts and runs smoothly as normal. As I said earlier, I am going to get the mechanic to take ano...

Re: Can You Identify the Missing Part?
It turns out the mechanic removed the lower resevoir in order to fit the new cam belt, but has asked me to bring the van back in so he can take a look (no extra cost obviously!). I did the tasks that were mentioned in the earlier post re topping up water with engine on etc, and then took it for a dr...

Re: Can You Identify the Missing Part?
I did, you're right. I've just had the diesel fuel pump refurbished, the power steering pump replaced and the cam belt changed. Not being a mechanic myself I'm not sure if any of these require the cooling system to be drained, but the secondary resevoir was definitely very low when I looked earlier,...

Thanks for that, I will give it a try in the morning. There doesn't seem to be any general leaks that I can see.

Re: Can You Identify the Missing Part?
Thanks for all the replies. I will get back in touch with the mechanic to see if he may have it on the workshop floor somewhere! If not, I will get a new one from the Brickwerks link, it might not be impirtant but it's nice to have the hole filled!

Re: Can You Identify the Missing Part?
Thanks for that. Should this not be covered with something? Is it a problem that it is nt covered? I don't suppose this explains why the water temp went up does it?

Can You Identify the Missing Part?
Hi All, Just got back from short journey and noticed the water temp gauge on the van was right up, no warning lights had flashed. Looked in engine bay and heard a slit wirring noise, also noticed that the secondary(?) water resevoir was empty. Checked water in the one behind the flap but that was fi...

Is it timing problems??
Hi, I've just had some work done on the van (1.6td 1990), refurbed fuel pump, refurbed power steering pump. The problem I'm getting now is that the van runs fine up to 2900rpm but then starts to run badly. The mechanic is looking at the timing again but also suggests that the fuel pump settings may ...
