Re: How to remove Westfalia hightop?

I've pulled my framework out with no issues.

The 2 main hoops bolt into place, if you are that concerned, measure the width across the top before hand, fabricate up a couple of cross beams and bolt them back into place once the rest is off.

Re: Fresh air flow.

I think the 4th heater lever opens a flap in the bottom of the heater box to divert air into the front cross beam, and from there through the door beams, up the b posts and into the top rear vents. With no 4th lever, the air won't get in to that part of the system. Also, those vents are in no way at...

Re: car towing frames

There was a recent discussion of some of the issues involved in this in a thread entitled 'Towing', you will find it in this section a little further down the index page. Basically towing with a frame is easy but for most private vehicles used to tow the towed vehicle needs to be able to be braked ...

Re: Removing seat runners

Just remember though, the seat runner steel is a lot thicker than the arch steel it is welded to, so doesn't take much to go too far

Re: ADVICE: Replacing rear brake lines

worth checking the front-to-back pipe too, from the brake compensator back. when I 1st bought my van it passed its 1st MOT with no brake issues at all, about 4 months later I decided to go through servicing the brake system, typically everything was seized up, including everything into and out of th...

Re: '88 camper, but what...???

Roof is a factory high roof panel van roof, not an aftermarket add on. Mine came with one and had an Autohomes interior. Holdsworth used them as the base for their conversions.

Interior could've been made by anyone at any time. Looks good though

Re: Question for the builders - garage doors

No, it's the main up-and-over door, one side is literally hanging by 2 strands of wire!

Not ready to replace just yet, but as long as I know I'm allowed to do it myself and don't have to pay someone for a job I'm perfectly capable of doing myself I'm happy.

Question for the builders - garage doors

I'm going to need a new garage door some time soon, I think the current one is the original door so is 30 yrs old.

Question is, is there any reason why I can't just make and fit my own, or does it have to be done to building regs, certified and fitted by a professional body (FENSA?)?

Re: WBX solid tappets who knows?

My old DG had a VW recon stamp on it where the engine number should be, and official looking stickers on the rocker covers stating non-hydraulic tappets fitted.

Whether this means VW themselves fitted solid, or someone else down the line fitted them, I have no idea.
