Re: Weird Sound

My mates T5 had a similar sound....it came from THE footwell, and apparently is the brake pedal return mechanism which has a seal on it which drew air in as it had split. Might be completely wrong but worth checking. I think he sealed his with a bit of gaffer tape as the defect didn't effect the bra...

Re: Built in stove

I can flog you a Spinflow 3 ring hob and grill combo (and a sink and pump too if you want one) that I removed from my van prior to it being removed and dismantled following a fire. The unit works and has been scrubbed clean. There is no lid however as the table formed a cover over and worktop. PM me...

Re: £700 spent so far and still no solution!!!

Have you tried Nigel Allen at St Columb? His contact number is 01726 890300. He only works on VW's (bays, T25, Karmens, etc), Audis and Porche. Took mine there having ruined a pushrod (bent it!!) and buring oils - lost 1 cylinder and was maxing 20mph on the flat to get to the garage. He has a big wo...

Re: Surf Boards ????

How big is the board(s)? My mate used his bike rack and fixed his board in the bag vertically to the rack - travelled through france with it no problems. Obviously if your board is a minimal or long board, or big guy short board you WILL need a roof rack....or put it in with the passengers in the ba...

Re: Roof rack for t25

For a non-permanent rack try a soft rack (on-line surf stores). Some have a gutter hook to suit older cars that would fit under the fibreglass edge of the pop top (with a twist to the strap). You tension this bit to fit snug on THE roof and then use the secondary strap to secure the load through a b...

Re: child gate for roof bed

I used a kids football goal net cut to fit the shape of the hightop. P clipped to the leading egde of the high top bed pull out section. I then fixed 2 terry clips tot eh ceiling liner panel and inserted an extendable shower rail through the top edge of the netting which clips into place. It's light...

Re: Still Smoking....

Well, the van came back from a local specialist I managed to track down - they'd moved premises...Mr Allen VW at Tregaswith outside Newquay (01637 880301). It has to be said that the guy is a genuine great mechanic, and all round nice bloke. Took the plunge and booked the van into his workshop for l...

Re: Still Smoking....

Cheers for your replies....my concern is running the engine if I could to do more damage than already done...if it's just burning off then I'm happ yo tkeep going til its gone. Might try and find an isolated beach car park and rev the guts out of it for a bit and see what happens; like you say I'd r...

Re: Still Smoking....

Argh, the Reverend Kev returns with Yoda knowledge...cheers, I knew you'd be along sooner or later. :ok I can' t do the work myself - don't have the tools and parking is strictly on the (narrow) road outside the house. I may have an alternative to the original posted garage.. I have a firend who use...

Still Smoking....

:( Posted a query on here a few weeks back (or thats how it feels) having overfilled my engine with oil and it smoking. Got plenty of advise and tips which helped me feel that I hadn't killed it. Well, I have followed the advise and clean air intake, changed filters, cleaned the engine and run the v...

Re: Pants!!

Yeah, very pale blue, more off white  . Smells oily like a hot engine. The van does seem to run well though.

Do you wreckon I just keep running it to burn off any residue, or is something more sinister happening?

Re: Pants!!

Embarrasment is an understatement....even my boss ( a complete petrol head who has just renovated a 2 stroke suzuki) said it seemed to be smoking a bit! I cleaned the air box and pipework, changed THE filter and breather hose. Not a lot in there in truth but sounds like you're right (speaking from e...

Re: Pants!!

ok...up-date. I have removed a lot of gunk and grime build up from the engine and the smoke seems to be coming out of the exhaust system - it is blowing slightly at THE socket joint before the silenser/ back box from the "front" pipe (from the cylinder nearest the front on the passenger si...
