I just got a Taifun grille... How the hell are they meant to attach to the van? None of the fittings are standard. If anything the van's fittings are getting in the way!

Whoops, just picked a rust flake off the big metal coolant pipe which goes along under the van next to the gearbox, and the "bar-steward" sprung a leak! How expensive is this going to be? 1.9 dg.

Courier did not turn up today!
Should be tomorrow now...

I will make sure to compare both engines very closely and hopefully be able to use the best bits from each!

1984 devon factory conversion. 1.9 petrol manual 4 speed DG. Think its a moonraker ... but am not sure. Think its got the early cooling system ... but am not sure. Old engine is blown... consumes oil at about 1 pint per mile... illegally thick smoke out the back. only running on 3 cylinders, no comp...

Replacing a DG with a new (2nd hand) one, been advised to check the clutch on the new one. Don't know what to look for. Got haynes manual, will that tell me everything I need to know?
PS is there anything else I should check/replace while engine is out?

Ah, thanks for that. Soon I will make up my mind between DG and AGG (gti conversion! )

Do any companies still do a recon exchange DG engine? I thought I saw such an ad recently for one it was about £1000 and with 12 month warranty. ...? Can only seem to find them for about £2k + now :'(

Ok so the diesel might be a KY (1.7) not a 1Y.

Is this still a good thing?
Can I use its parts just the same?
