Re: Sudden headlight failure

Ok, so I finally got round to getting this fixed for MOT. I'd had the relay/fuse board out, switches and all the obvious stuff a non-lecky would check but couldn't sort it. After getting an auto lecky to have a look it turns out that the fault was caused by high resistance in a couple of corroded Sc...

Re: No Fuel and Water indications

Just a bit of feedback on my fuel/water temp gauge issues. I got hold of one of the voltage regulators from ebay as listed in one of the topics on here. Had a nice bit of father and son time replacing it and all appears to be well - result! Thanks for the info.

Sudden headlight failure

Hi all, I've looked thru the archive and Wiki but can't find a definitive answer on this. Driving home tonight, clicked on the main beam and both headlights failed, rear lights fine. Weird because main beam indicator blue light stays on as long as headlight switch is on but clicking the flasher stal...

No Fuel and Water indications

Just started up the van after a lay-off (no probs as always!) but no fuel or water temp indications (clock has never worked). Fuel is full and driven around for ten minutes, still nothing. They're obviously both on the same side of the binnacle so I'm assuming an elect issue. Before I start fettling...

Re: Three Point Seat Belts and Rock n Roll

Hi staffscampers, what model of Autosleeper do you have? I have a Trident which when I got it had a three point inertia belt on the off side which went through the wardrobe door! - not legal. There was also a three point inertia on the near side. I replaced the off side with a lap belt which is atta...

Re: Fiamma bike rack............

They are pricey, but they are also the best. As with other stuff, you get what you pay for. Fiama kit is well supported and its easy to get spares/replacements from specialists and new spares on ebay too. The bottom line is, do you buy cheap and wonder if it'll last a couple of years or spend the ex...

Re: THE VAN THAT TIME FORGOT! (Clock's Bust)

Thanks for that mate, you've got me thinking now, the courtesy lights work fine but the radio has history. I found soon after getting the van that for some reason the radio had been wired to the brake lights fuse rather than its original. There must be an issue with that circuit and may be the sourc...

THE VAN THAT TIME FORGOT! (Clock's Bust)

Not a biggy but just want to get those little jobs out of theway while she's otherwise running well. To be honest the clock (bog standard analogue in the dash) has never worked since I got the van but I thought I'd ask you before I get my hands dirty. Are there common faults on these or anything par...

Re: wot to cover my interior panels with?

Elmo, try this http://www.carcarpets.co.uk/epages/Stor ... 0Lining%22. The company is called Coverdale, the lining is what is used in a lot of campers, they have loads of colours. I'm using this to update my van but using leatherette above the kitchen to make it easy to keep clean. There's other com...

Re: Autosleeper thread

Kev, got an '86 Trident, had her 3yrs, did a 2,500 mile family euro tour this summer without as much a hiccup. Done plenty of work but no real mods yet. Just had a look at your van, very nice. No offence but how about some silvered indicator bulbs to cure that 'fried egg' effect? Keep you posted on ...

Re: Dorset campsites

Amazed that Durdle Door has not been mentioned on here, great location, great facilities. Clifftop walks, right next to Lulworth Cove. Lots to do nearby - Lulworth Castle, Tank Museum, Monkey World! Been there 5 or 6 times and will go again. Worth a look.

Re: european breakdown cover

Thought i'd chip in, may be of some use. Found some euro cover thru Moneysupermarket I think it was. The Green insurance Company, cost £99.95 for the year inc euro repair/recovery and key cover. They'll only recover you if the recovery cost is less than the market value of the van, makes sense I gue...

Re: Aerial on the 'A' pillar

Cheers gents, I stand corrected. Been looking at loads of photos and can see the original fit now. Mine was fitted in a totally random place for some reason and is now languishing in the bottom of the dustbin. I just have a hole to fill now as its in the wrong place.
