The main beam relay is marked 53 in the fusebox.

Fill out the V5 with the change of taxation class, post it along with a covering letter and the proof of date of manufacture letter from VW (make a copy of that letter first)  to DVLA

205/70R14 either reinforced or extra load and C rated tyres are recommended for the 6" rims. Narrower tyres on 6" rims are will have a straighter sidewall, giving a firmer ride. There isn't much choose in 205/70R14 only European brand that still makes them is Semprite, otherwise it is far ...

Think I would be worried about the drive belt as well, they are not rated much above 90A, hence two belts and then serpentine belts are used for anything higher.

Yes, it should have a non return valve in the return line. Normally it is mounted in front of the bulkhead. With the van parked uphill the fuel head is above the float chamber level, it stops the fuel syphoning back into the carb.

No, you can't get to the sender without dropping the tank. Two types of senders fitted early and late. Same fitting, just different resistances. Fitting a late sender to an early vehicle, the fuel will run out, showing between 1/4 tank and reserve.

Pointless replacing the alternator if it just the regulator, some do use softer brushes, no bad thing, it does save wear on the slip rings.

Varta, Exide, Banner and Yuasa are the top brands. Top end Bosch are made by Varta, budget are Far east imports.

ATE part ordered with autodoc- miffed at the £8.45 postage as the only option via undisclosed methods, only to find its gone with Evri/hermes, and from germany. gahhhh!  if it turns up itll be a bloody miracle, literally the worst courier on the planet :shock: part number for the 3pin switch is 113...
