Sorry should have given more information, it is the rivets on the hinges that connect the roof to the body there does not appear to be any rust on the body at this point just no rivets, I will get a picture tomorrow if it isn't raining.

Devon Roof rivets

Hi, I have a problem with the roof on my 1980 Devon, the rivets that hold the roof on have snapped at the front which made the roof collapse, I had to strap the roof down with surfboard straps and take a very slow drive back from Cornwall, what I would like to know is - Is this a common problem? And...

I have been trying to work out the best way to do this for ages, I couldn't think of anyway of removing old carpet, how are you going to fix the "crazy fur" to the roof?

I am sure as long as the skylight is still there that there will not be a problem with ventilation.

I have exactly the same problem, what is the best way of replacing the roof carpet, do you have to remove the original or can you just put new carpet over the top of the old, and how would you fix/glue it?

I have taken it to a friend of a friend to look at it for me, he had a quick look and said that it should not have failed either. He is going to look at the problems anyway and will give me a price on replacing the rusty bits with repair panels so that I can get the van resprayed and looking good ag...

Thanks for all your advice, personally I don't think that the rust is that bad and I have a feeling that the garage might be trying it on, I had my suspicions that they were creating work when my wife took her car to be mot'd there last time. I will take some pictures tonight when I get in and post ...

Ticking Sound

Hi,

Just wondering sometimes when I start my 1980 Aircooled T25 there is a ticking sound that comes from somewhere over the passengers side that is quite noisy but stops when I put my foot on the accelerator, can anyone tell me what this is and should I be worried about it.

Thanks

Rob.
