i work at a scrap yard so i can get engines all day long i thought if i rebuild it i know its a good un i,ll give it a bash n see how thing go

hi folks has any one changed the piston rings on a 1y ? is it a engine out job ?
my vans smokin like hell it used 3.5 litres of oil goin to devon the other week so its time to sort it out

Hi, thanks for the reply. Ive used an angled sump off a non turbo, the inlet and outlet manifolds off a 1.7 non turbo, its smokin a light grey smoke all the time, but no loss of power. Im on holiday at the moment in devon and have had to top it up with 3.5 litres of oil on the way down!!!!!! Cheers ...

hi folks does anyone know how much oil to put in a 1y conversion ive used a 1.6 td dip stick n tube if i put 4.5 litres i doesn't even register has anyone else had this problem?
