Hi Fella - well this is a truly excellent start to the thread and you have me hooked already. Welcome! Its a bit rusty but you certainly seem to have the skills so I will keep myself up to date on next steps. I am up the road in Newbury so not far away!

Hey and mudlark - agree about the pop top in summer - now worries. Have you ever been in winter or got two young kids?? Wkere do you put all the stuff? Answer - in a high top. Not the greatest looks put in the elements - the business.

Jed - love the website and the vids - they are great. But finding the comments about Westy Syncros now rather...erm how can I be discrete to a fellow syncro lover ....erm ....yes......well..... tedious. Owning something unusual is spot on. Your a lucky guy - end of. Lets steer clear of any more .......
Re: ebay doka
Well folks - I admit this has been a really good thread and I have enjoyed following it. I have some sympathy with bhp`s comments in the fact when the folk on hear say they have concerns they can be tough. It would be unfair to say they punch holes in everything but they can be a bit cynical. Anyone...

Re: My 'new' Tristar Syncro Doka - The journey starts here...
In answer to my contradictions - on my third T25 diesel now and both the others had an original jx engines. My current one had had the diesel upgraded before I got her (and I am still patching up a somewhat dubious install that`s now much better). I know its a contradiction to say purest with except...

IMHO keep the suspension standard, wherever practical - Puch Steyr werent divs and knew what they were doing even if it was 20 years ago. I am not a syncro engineer, and dont claim to be, but screwing with geometry is changing with the essence of the ride of you very special truck. Some really do kn...

Re: SYNCRO for sale
Yep - I agree Karl. Show me a syncro that didnt cost you something too! (except of course you Tristar but you paid for it and its lovely) I suspect it will cost a lot more than £7k when you see it in the cold light of day - 5k and would could be interested (expecting to find all the issues). I get r...

Re: 16" wheel centres?
Hi folks - have to admit you now have me interested as I am a plastics and materials man. Yep looking at the caps they are definitely injection moulded and also with excessive venting (note the 4 round impressions on the picture). The tool probably injects plastic at two or more points on the rim to...

Re: Doka load bed cover?
You know fleabay is incredible - I rang the guy with the pigshed - nice chap, very honest - told me it had a broekn corner and no locks working and I withdrew my £250 offer and he was as straight as an arrow., I am delighted he then got a stunningly high price for it on the bay of fleas (infact I am...

I think this one was on the syncro display at the vw show at Malvern. Had some interesting paint but I have seen many worse. Makes me wonder what my 16 inch doka is worth!

Re: Petrol to AFN ETDi
Well I ave a 1z and it does about 23 mpg with big injectors
However my BMW 320 efficient dynamics get a hard run every day and so far in 33000 miles it's averaged 57.6mpg - so hopefully that will end the 'I've got a bigger one than you' debate
