Re: Any tips on fitting new elec fuel pump please
i fitted the filter then the pump, stop a crap going in there. My mistake, the pump was indeed fitted after the filter. And the good news is she was purring away earlier this evening :D I'll post up pics and a full debrief later this week. Thanks to all who posted contributions/comments. Cheers, HB

Re: Any tips on fitting new elec fuel pump please
Not wanting to hijack this thread but where is the best place to fit the fuel pump. I have an lpg system fitted to my van (1.9 petrol ) and at present the electric pump is fitted in the engine bay and quite high up. When the van has been stood a while maybe a week it very rarely wants to start on p...

Re: Any tips on fitting new elec fuel pump please
john1,
Ah, ok, I'm with you now.
What would be the preferred option- coil or oil prs switch?
Without hitting any major snags how long do you reckon this should take to complete?
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
Cheers,
HB

Re: Any tips on fitting new elec fuel pump please
john1, Thanks for your reply. Thanks to my limited experience and woefully inadequate knowledge I'm not sure I understand your question. I was presuming that I'd be replacing the line from the tank to the pump, thence to the engine/carbs. Would I be right in attempting this? I'll be sitting d...

Any tips on fitting new elec fuel pump please
Hi folks, The mechanical fuel pump on my '82 air cooled 2.0l has finally failed and I've decided to fit a new electrical pump. I've read as much as I can find on the subject (forum and wiki) but would just like to ask for any other hints or tips those more knowledgable than myself might like to offe...

Re: Running 12v appliances- only coolbox trips
You are indeed correct, Sir. I fitted a new, single cig lighter unit to the leisure circuit and the cooler now works fine. Thanks again for the nudge in the right direction! I shall raise a (cold!) glass to all the good 80-90 contributors when I'm enjoying a drink somewhere in north/west Scotland ov...

Re: Running 12v appliances- only coolbox trips
California Dreamin, Thanks for your input. So a possible solution may be to run a separate ciggie lighter (not a 3-way splitter but more robust single unit) off my leisure battery for sole use by the coolbox? That makes sense to me if the 3-way doesn't have the balls to cope with the cooler. I'll gi...

Re: Running 12v appliances- only coolbox trips
Hi, thanks for the reply. To be more precise: I have a switch mounted on the dash to turn on/off the power to the cig is lighter. When the coolbox is plugged in, and the cig lighter is switched on the LEDs on the 12v coolbox plug & cig lighter unit light up momentarily and the coolbox unit sound...

Running 12v appliances- only coolbox trips
Hi folks, I'm wondering if anybody can shed any light on an electrical problem I have. I have a 3-way ciggie lighter running off the leisure battery (newly installed and checked out to be functioning correctly). If I plug my phone charger in it works fine. Plug in the newly purchased coolbox and it ...

Hi Tony, Thanks for the reply. I've just ordered some Sikaflex (thanks for the tip syncrosimon) so will give that a go after the weekend (heading up to Skye for a few days). I've not had any problems with applicator guns before. Why was it easier with a £18 gun as opposed to a £3 one? What was the d...

Thanks for the reply. Standing in front of the vehicle, the seal directly above the top left corner of the windscreen has perished slightly and appears to be allowing water in. Where the top joins the main body of the van above the front seats there is a small 'shelf' all the way round, from above t...

Hi-top seal perished.
Hi volks, Looks like I'm going to have to re-seal my hi-top. I've just found out that the seal has perished at the top of the passenger's front post (LHD) and when poking around inside (steady on) I've found a bad dose of rot. Sadly it looks like this has been going on for some time. It's not possib...

I'm now looking at fitting an electric pump but I'm unsure which will fit. Can anyone tell me if this one will do the trick. Specs- This brand new fuel pump is universal fitment and comes complete with pre-filter inlet union, outlet union, mounting bracket and instructions. The pipe tails are 8mm. T...
