FM Aerial questions

Hi I need to refit an aerial for the radio in my van, but I don't want to drill a hole in the newly restored body if I can help it. Do I need to fit another 'old style' extendable aerial, or would a shorter more modern style work as well? Does it need to be mounted externally? or could it be fitted ...

Re: Bodyshop in Scotland that does T25s.

We used Andy Leslie at https://www.facebook.com/sleepingindiancoachworks/

He's done some really tricky bodywork restoration on T25s and knows what he's doing. Not cheap, and a you'll probably have to wait a year for a space - but he's good.

Brickwerks mudflaps

Hi all I recently bought a set of mudflaps from Brickwerks. They seem pretty heavy duty, but don't come with any fitting instructions. I'm loathe to start randomly drilling without some proper guidance as we have just shelled out several thousand pounds on bodywork renovation. Has anyone fitted thes...

Re: Low Oil Pressure light on idle flickers

Hi I've been reading this with interest. I had a similar issue - oil pressure light dimly flickering on idle when engine is hot. Van has since been off the road for some time awaiting bodywork restoration. However I have taken the opportunity to fix a number of oil leaks - pushrod tubes, oil pump ga...

Re: Re-fitting engine and gearbox

Thanks for the advice. I think I will mate them together and fit as a single unit. Heavier but less chance of causing damage.

Cheers

Re-fitting engine and gearbox

Hi all. A quick question about re-fitting the engine and gearbox. I recently removed the engine (1.9 DG) and then the gearbox, prior to getting some major bodywork restoration. Now that I have, hopefully, fixed a number of oil leaks and replaced the clutch, they are ready to go back in the van. My q...

Re: What is this bodywork shape for?

Ok that's fine. He's going to use a flat, but stiffened repair section. You've no doubt noticed that the inner wheelarch needs a bit of work as well. :rofl

What is this bodywork shape for?

Quick question from the chap restoring the bodywork on our van. As the title suggests, we want to know if the 'bump' marked with a red X has a vital function. He wants to know if the shape needs to be exactly reproduced after he cuts out some rusty bits. Any advice appreciated, my feeling is that it...

Re: Do I need a new flywheel?

Cleaned it up and it's looking fairly ok, no cracks that I can see and only a slight wear ridge at the inner and outer edges of the friction plate. Thanks for the tip re the starter bush. Am I right in thinking that the felt washer fits in the centre of the flywheel? If there was one originally, it ...

Early coolant pipe needed

Hi

I'm trying to get hold of a replacement for a very rusty and scabby metal coolant pipe for my 1985 1.9DG WBX. It is the one highlighted in this diagram - any ideas what it would be called and where I might get one?

Do I need a new flywheel?

I have a new clutch kit, endfloat shims, oil seal, spigot bearing and felt washer. Looking for advice on whether this flywheel is still ok or should be replaced.

Thanks
Donald

Re: Crankshaft End Play Question

Hi Maxstu Yes, early type with only one oil pressure sensor. I will fit shims without the retainer ring. I'll be double checking but my initial calculation is getting 0.45 with just two shims, so I will add a third shim of 0.35 or as close to that as I can get. They seem to be out of stock on Brickw...

Re: Crankshaft End Play Question

Reading this with interest as I'm just about to be in a similar position, having removed the flywheel and leaky oil seal on my 1985 1.9DG. Any advice on where to source shims and shim retainer? Brickwerks and JK are both out of stock. Another question for me is, should I replace the thrust bearing a...
