hmmm...
after further reading it seems you can't treat this (it's got holes in it), you can only cut it out and replace it. This sounds like a lot of (expensive) work. I think i'll just look at ways of stopping the rot for now. Heard Vactan mentioned a few times, will get me some of that.

Treating Rot

Hi again, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to treat some rot on the inside underneath my sliding window. Here's how it looks (apologies for poor quality camera phone photo): [img:500:375]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2175/2389561907_2cdeb84aba.jpg[/img] [img:500:375]http://farm3.static...

Finally got around to this. My service book says that following engine was installed: Audi 80 Turbo Diesel with the letters CY037250 after it, is that the engine code then? I took a few pics of the bay and some close ups of the numbers I could find, but couldn't see CY037250 on it anywhere. Here are...

ok, had a look there. Got the relay off, contacts look good but what it plugs into may be rusty. Turned the key with the relay off and it does try to start, but nowhere near getting going. Will spray a little wd40 onto where it plugs into later and see if that'll work, otherwise i'm assuming it's a ...

Buzzing Relay

Hi guys, Audi 1.6t Diesel. van won't start today at all. It's not battery cause i have lights, indicators, wipers etc. When I turn the key to warm up, after about 5 seconds I get a buzzing noise from the engine. I'm certain it's coming from this relay in the fusebox in the engine bay: [img:500:375]htt...

Careful with the bent shifters (ooh matron!), I was rather vigorously looking for reverse on my wagon before and busted the gear stick so that it actually pivoted 360. Could only change gear if I grabbed the stick at the floor. Got a guy to put a collar on it for me and is grand now. Apparently, the...

Was just looking at an automatic with a friend yesterday. I'm pretty sure the dipstick to the front of the engine is to check the gear oil. No idea where you top it up though :?:

Engine ID

Hi Again, I bought my 1985 t25 a few months ago from a guy who said it had a reconditioned Audi 1.6t engine installed in 1995 which had 87,000 miles up on it. I know nothing of engines etc so took him for his word. I'm beginning to think that in fact the engine that is in there is still the original...
