fitting quarter lights & glass
What a pig!
Any advice? I have tried putting the glass in first. Problem is I can't get the quarter lights in now the windows are in! Am I doing it the wrong way round? Have tried putting quarter lights in first but can't get the glass in!

Re: removal of pop top.
Well I got the 2 sections of the pop top off without any problems at all. 45mins tops. Every screw and bolt came out easily and it just lifted straight off. Respray should now be a lot neater!

Re: 1979/1980 paint colours
I am off down to the bodyshop today and will attempt to remove the roof. I haven't had any tips from forumites so I will just 'feel my way' and hope to avoid any "cock" ups! Wish me luck.......

Re: 1979/1980 paint colours

Ha ha!
I was thinking of Nigella Lawson homemade custard rather than the tinned Bird's variety!

Not that I am a custard snob or anything like that!
Below is a pic of my van in its current soda blasted state!

Re: 1979/1980 paint colours
Cheers Chaps! ( Or Chapesses!)
After some investigation I found a metal plate with the code B9B9 E11 D31.
I found that the B9B9 linked to L567 or Ivory beige.
Result.......unless someone can tell me I have made a mistake!
Cheers
Jon
P.S - I will post pics of soda blasted camper soon.

removal of pop top.
I've done a few searches but cannot find anything specific - so here goes. The bodyshop who are repairing my 1980 Vanagon (with the westfalia conversion and pop top) have asked me about removing the pop top to make a cleaner job of the respray. 1 - Is this a sensible thing to do? 2 - Is it relativel...

Re: Too cold to even do an oil change
It's lovely and warm here in Blenheim!
I would recommend you doing oil changes in the Summer - but in the UK it probably doesn't make any difference!

1979/1980 paint colours
I cannot find the original vin number on my 1980 camper which was imported from Hawaii a few years ago. The 'new' vin is one which has been applied when the van was certified for use in NZ. It is a 1979 T25 and is a creamy yellow custardy colour! I have seen the same colour on loads of pictures - bu...

T25 seats
I have a 1980 van with swivel seats in the front and was hoping to have them reupholstered. Unfortunately my local trimmer has told me that they are almost beyond repair with VERY badly rusted springs and frames. Has anyone used seats from other vans that can be converted easily? Please note that I ...

sealed beam headlamps
One of them has given up the ghost and I wanted to know if it is straighforward to swap with a 'normal' headlamp where I can change the bulbs when they blow rather than the whole unit. The van is a 1979 T25 (left hand drive) and the current units say 'wagner' on the glass but has a 'hella' imprint o...

This is a very interesting thread. Does anyone remember how much cheaper diesel was than petrol in years gone by? The more popular diesel became...the more expensive it became. The more popular lpg becomes...the more the government will take notice and increase the tax. Well...thats what I think any...
