Re: What engine code is my van??????

Look at the back of the engine (i.e. where the belts are). Towards the top you will see a black breather tower, like a black plastic pipe that comes out of the engine and sticks upwards. Just beneath the base of this, the engine number will be stamped on the metal facing the back of the van. It will...

Re: Banging and Whining! - Gearbox?

Clutch judder! is normally caused when the drive is not taken up smoothly when pulling away. A common cause is oil contamination either from the imput shaft or rear main oil seals. Broken or weak engine/gearbox metalastic mounting rubbers can also allow excessive oscillating movement which results ...

Re: Banging and Whining! - Gearbox?

I'm no mechanic either but if it shudders when pulling away that sounds like clutch slipping to me. If you can pull away in second (enough revs and not uphill) then it's not clutch. I repeat, I'm no mechanic! I can pull away in second. Cheers guys, will have a look at the gearbox oil tomorrow. Anyo...

Have you checked your gearbox oil level? I suspect your gearbox oil may be low to cause this.

Somewhat embarrassingly, I don't know how! Is there a dipstick or some way I can observe the level?

Banging and Whining! - Gearbox?

Guys, My van has been making an odd banging noise/feel when I pull off at low speed but it clears up as soon as I've pulled away (NOT at idle, only when in gear). Didn't know if it was something to do with the clutch or the drive-shafty-type-thing? I'm no mechanic! Also - dunno if this is related - ...

Re: Fitting a new Fuel Tank.

The tank from JK did not come with seals and unfortunately they're out of stock of quite a few of the parts I need... I've booked it into a garage as I assumed it's something that couldn't be done at home? Am I wrong? I have a trolley jack, two ramps and some axle stands but I didn't think that'd be...

Fitting a new Fuel Tank.

Hi Guys, Bought a new fuel tank for my DJ from Just Kampers. Anyone know if there's like a fitting kit or something that has all the appropriate gaskets, seals and washers (I presume they'll all need to be replaced?). I can see some, but not all, available on the JK site. I would have thought the bl...

Re: Eberspacher B2L

Fixed!

Turns out there's a little M to F connector behind the buddy seat, had to unbolt the whole thing and take it out because I had a suspicion it might have come undone and I was right

Works a treat now. Heated up more or less straight away after god knows how long it's been not working.

Re: Eberspacher B2L

OK, so I've discovered that there is charge in the leisure battery. Where might I find the main fuse for the Eberspacher on a 1988 Multivan?

I know there's another fuse in the silver unit, but there's no power coming upto the unit yet!

Cheers,

Phil.

Re: Eberspacher B2L

I would have expected it to be close to the battery connection. The manual I have for that model is in German which might as well be Greek to me - arabic I can cope with - it's far easier. There is only one shown on the wiring diagram and that is placed by the battery. Red wire fom battery to steur...

Eberspacher B2L

Hey guys, My heater has never worked since I got the van (nothing at all happens when I press the button) - haven't been able to see anything obvious wrong with it, but I got the Multimeter on it today and realised that there's no power coming up to the control module from the battery. My question i...

Re: 1.9DG - cant get CO above .10%

The limit for CO emissions is 4.5%. If yours is at 0.10% then thats way below the limit and I would be a happy as a pig in poo! How come you want to change the carb etc. when it would sail through an emissions test? My test sheet (from friday) says the limit is max 3.5% CO ? Has it changed, or do d...

Haha oh dear, so the asterisk doesn't necessarily imply that it was carried out by VW then?
