Check your oil breather tower and the pipe to the air intake.
Mine was blocked, causing excess preassure in the crankcase... the pressure pushed oil past the seal.

Re: Door locks on close
Do you have OEM central locking? If so then the internals of the actuator have probably corroded.
There are some circuit diagrams and images of the actuators here. http://www.pbase.com/tonytech/central_locking_images
and here.http://www.pbase.com/tonytech/image/84733738

Re: Actuators
If you fancy taking the actuators apart and giving them a good dose of looking at I have some images that might help. http://www.pbase.com/tonytech/central_locking_images The driver and passenger door actuators are "masters" while the tailgate and sliding door are "slaves" In the...

Re: DJ 2.1Auto Injection stalling issue.
Two years since I let my van go to the great recycling centre :( So I cant help much, but if your ecu is just wedged in is it getting a good earth? I remember the harness has multiple earths around the engine bay, but does the ecu case also act as an earth? Even if the case only acts as to screen th...

Re: Aftermarket fusebox with LED light for blown fuse
I think the led on the fusebox is just wired accross the fuse with a suitable resistor in series. Fuse OK ... current flows through the fuse to the circuit as normal. Fuse blown .. current flows through the led and resistor to the circuit... The resistor limits the current to a few mA so no overheat...

Re: Hiss when braking?
Unlikely, but, did / does your bus have cruise control? There is a vacuum dump valve fitted to the pedal assembly.
There shouldnt be any vacuum in it normally, but some bright spark may have bodged it in the past.

Re: 'L' Question pwm Fan control
The "measureable 12v" is probably a very short pulse (a few milliseconds every 200milliseconds or so) digital meters dont measure pulsed voltages or currents very well. Personally I wouldnt worry too much, I rarely drove my van with the fan off. I have a PWM module controlling a motor for ...

As above. I had a similar experience. I found that jamming a credit card thickness of plastic between the ignition switch and the steering column fixed the problem for several years.

Re: Central locking questions
The front door actuators include the mechinism to send the lock/unlock commands. The tailgate and sliding door actuators externaly the same (minus a 12v connection) but dont send any signals. The tailgate lock mechinism is different, it has a sliding component that changes how the press button works...

I have a few pics of the accuators in various states of dismantelment. http://www.pbase.com/tonytech/central_locking_images and the wireing loom. http://www.pbase.com/tonytech/image/84733738 The two cab doors are master controllers, operating either one sends control signals to itsself and the other...

Re: Starting sequence?
Not sure if it helps, but...
I used to have a DJ, on a number of occasions (cos I'm a numpty) I left accidentaly left the air flow sensor disconected after some maintenance.
Turn key, engine starts, but dies imediately unless I reved the nuts off it. I'd be looking at the connections around this area.

Re: Fuel smell, vent tanks and valves
The tanks in the wheel arches are "expansion tanks" designed to cope with the U shaped main fuel tank. I believe the valve on the top seal if the van turns over, The ears on the end of the pipes often get lost, their main task is to stop dirt getting into the system. I dont think they are ...

Re: DAB Aerial
I had (the van is no more) a similar aerial, I unscrewed the aerial from its base and added a right angle bracket.
Magnetic base sticks to the A pillar, great reception.

Re: CV Joint?
That does sound like a CV joint. I dont think the tyres will make much difference, but the change of ride height will have changed the angle of the drive shafts....Though I would have thought it would lessen the angle. Get underneath and give the shafts a push/pull towards the gearbox. Sometimes mov...

Only thing I can add is to buy a decent one. Brickwerks or VW.
I bought a JK one and it leaked from day one. (about 7years ago now, so they may have got their act together....)
