Re: What's the standard tyre size please? Is it model dependant?

The height of the tyre side wall come in different sizes. For example a 17" wheel with low profile side wall tyre could have the same diameter as a 14" wheel with taller side wall tyre. This side wall size is always written on the tyre. Such as 80, 55, 50 etc This number (side wall height)...

Re: WBX hydraulic lifter replacement

That what I was hoping to avoid. The cost of telescopic push rod tubes x8 over the risk of pulling the heads with the possibility of snapping head studs.
I'll have a look on wiki if there is some useful stuff there.
Many thanks

WBX hydraulic lifter replacement

Is it possible to pull old hydraulic lifters up the push rod tubes with the head in place to replace with new, or is it a head off job to allow removal of the push rod tubes to gain access to the hydraulic lifters?
Thanks in advance if you can help.

Re: What Turbo is this

As said already that turbo is a VNT from a 110hp TDI motor. Engine code AFN. The big give away is the position of the diaphragm housing, specific to VNT when it comes to VW TDI's. It is not from a 1Z or AHU as these run the waste gate turbo. There exhaust housing is much smaller. What's the story wi...

Re: ABS

The ABS system on the vw T3 is single circuit for the rear wheels unlike the T4 which has a dedicated 4 wheel system. I'm sure that the ABS system is not designed to work with diff locks on. I have only come accross one syncro with ABS and it had no diff locks. Does any one have a syncro with ABS an...

Re: Buzzer of doom!

Late vans 87 on have the buzzer of doom and this is controlled by 2 oil light switches. When the ignition is on and the engine is not running one of the switches will be open circuit and the other closed circuit. When you start the engine the open circuit switch closes (or at least should) and the c...

Re: Electronic Power Steering

The one obvious difference between the vw sub kit and the one from ultimate-engineering apart form the lower price is that the ultimate engineering kit also has automatic adjustment to the assistance of the steering at various vehicle road speeds. Bad dragon, I don't think you will be disappointed w...

Re: Electric P.A.S.

For those of you who don’t know me or much about my work, a quick introduction. I have been in the business of repairing, restoring and customising VW’s since the 1980’s. I have built many magazine featured and show winning vehicles for customers. All of which were air cooled, and all in need of vas...

How is the project moving on.
Since I last posted on your thread, I have fitted an AAZ from a Golf into a petrol T3, So I now have first hand info on the subject and am able to supply any pictures that might help your install.

Re: What's a fair price for supply+fit a 1.9 AAZ?

The bell housing used on the vw t3 diesel can be used as a direct swap onto your petrol box. Expect to pay £50 for a diesel bell housing. The adaptor plate route is great if you want to use a gearbox with non removable bell housing such as porsche. If you want to fit a 5 speed dont forget to get all...
