Re: Fuel/Air problem 1600CT
Hubby here I have checked the dizzi, points, and the leads, vacuum pipes, etc. I admit that I thought of the vacuum advance not working correctly so will try your suggestion of sucking on the pipe next weekend. Our old dizzi was a 009 centrifugal type that we swapped for a good(??) second hand vacuu...

Re: how do most people fit a wooden RnR bed?
my son cut pieces of wood to fit. we used cardboard to get measurements etc. we also fitted a steel bar (from B&Q) to the top screw, across the back to support it, as we often have 4 adults and i wasn't convinced wood on its own was strong enough.

Fuel/Air problem 1600CT
last year we had a problem with an air leak on the engine. Ended up replacing the manifold gaskets only to discover that the cylinder head was leaking. Well £1000 later everything was fine and she behaved herself until late last summer when we were driving home from Norfolk. On the A11 we were trund...

Re: Anyone near/around london a dab hand with twin solex carbs?
hiya
i have a 1.6 Aircooled and took the carb to small place in the centre of leighton buzzard. dunno the name - and hubby's out.... but i'll ask him and post it later.
they rebuilt the carb and it all came back shiny and powerful (and that's as technical as i get!)

strange hole has appeared
in the solex carb, should there be some sort of blanking plate on the front of the carb - there appears to be a hole, about the size of a 2p just above the manifold bit and between the air bleed pipes.... what should be there? metal? rubber? 1600 ct engine, (34pcit carb) btw, just been refitted with...

Re: 1600ct engine problem
just got back from the garage. The valve seats could do with a reface on both cylinder heads so no.1 head has to come off anyway to get all the valve seats reground. Apparently we should have 130+ psi, we only have 100 on no.1 and no.4 and 120 on no. 2 (no.3 is 50 psi hence the original problems) an...

1600ct engine problem
we have finally found out where the airleak is on our engine in our T25. The engine idles fine on tickover (it even passed its MOT) and can be revvd but as soon as you put any load on the engine by driving it it miss fires and looses power. Hubby replaced the carb and the gasket last year - no impro...

Re: I need to put rear seatbelt in van conversion - wooden bed
just make sure that you do not have loose cushions.... or they could slide out and leave your child unprotected by the belt.
my van has rear belts fitted to the bulkhead, the seat is wooden but the cushion foam is firmly fixed to the base.
