Re: Getting my 2l Aircooled engine reconned (or scooby?)
Got a pretty short reply from Laurie that he "no longer do water boxer engines." Had put 'Aircooled' in the subject line and said it was a 2l LPG converted 1982 t25... Tried mailing back but no reply yet, will try giving him a bell but wondered if there's anyone else good out there? Are ve...

Re: Getting my 2l Aircooled engine reconned (or scooby?)
I had the same problem/dilemma, I went down the route of getting the AirCold re-conned by Laurie Pettit who is based at Eyemouth, nice bloke and sensibly priced He has a good reputation Thanks for the recommendation - will look into it. Was talking to SWMBO t'other day about Berwich and the north w...

Getting my 2l Aircooled engine reconned (or scooby?)
Think our 2l Aircooled is on its way out - she's eating oil like no tomorrow and running VERY hot. Have been told of someone up in Scotland who reconditions engines - any ideas on who that is or a good place to have the engine out, reconned and replaced (rathert han playing out for a vege engine fro...

Some more info
Thanks for the thoughts there - there's been a little smoke from the exhaust but mostly white not black/blue... Pulled and replaced all the plugs and all had carbon/sooty blackening but not oily deposits (unlike pre-valve change where no 1 cylinder had oily blackness abounding and no compression). A...

Spitting oil
Thought my 2l air cooled was running lumpy and put hand over exhaust to feel if it was regular - seems off and got oil spitting over my palm. Presume this means either the valve replaced in Germany has gone awry or another ones gone or piston rings? Yet to diagnose which cylinder but she's driven ok...

Re: OFFS - HELP AGAIN! now she's not firing on all cylinders :-(
Wondering if that's what's causing the probe as that's the part number I found listed for a t2 but description now reads t4a 1.7 > 7/73 if you search for part number 14404 - the inlet valves are there ok (14308) Any idea if that part number could have changed or if it's just description lacking deta...

Broken down and stuck waiting for parts in black forest :-(
Well we made it across Germany - mostly on 3 cylinders by all accounts and still stuck waiting 5 days as number 1 cylinder had no compression at all when tested and valve's gone. The garage were recommended by volos service centres as their 'chief' has a lot of experience on air cooled engines. But ...

Re: OFFS - HELP AGAIN! now she's not firing on all cylinders :-(
Haven't changed the dissy or leads or rotor arm yet - will check - was hoping flux rescue bloke could lend a hand/tool / tester / some interest rather than rolling up in an SUV with not a tool or a care and just telling me "we're not a mobile garage"... WELL unimpressed. Time to rely on my...

Re: OFFS - HELP AGAIN! now she's not firing on all cylinders :-(
Additional details: Spark plug on number 1 cylinder was VERY black. Number 2 better - light grey.. If it's compression what's the deal??? Or could it just be dissy/leads etc. PS. 2litre, air cooled, 1982, LPG converted by gasure. Checked 2 weeks ago and given A-ok by Steve... Changed plugs for NPK B...

Definately not firing on all 4 cylinders - lacks power up hill, feels rough. Have tried pulling each lead in turn and found number...
