That's interesting, thanks for that...

When you say the crank pulley, do you mean the one with the timing belt attached? My bottom pulley has a pretty hefty dent in it and wobbles a bit, but it's just the pulley for the alternator as far as I can see...

Thanks,

:)

headgasket, rings or (I wish) just timing?

Hello, on the way home from the CVWOC jamboree today, the van was running rough and seemed to be missing on at least one cylinder. Lack of power and smoke (white/blue) billowing out the back made me pull over and I was then towed home when the AA decided it wasn't just an injector playing up and was...

Tachometer "conversion"

Hello, having put a diesel motor in place of the old petrol motor in my van, my petrol tacho no longer works, as there's no coil for it to pick up it's pulsed feed from. I've been looking for a diesel tacho for about three months now, with no luck at all...so, is there any way to convert a petrol ta...

Thanks for that... The bottom pulley's got no play in it, just this dent...although if this squeaking was anything, I'd go with your rubber beading shock absorber thing, as that''s the sort of sound it is... What a pain in the @rse  I'm driving to the Dingle Peninsula and back from Newquay as ...

Well OK...so 45MPG was optimistic. I've still not got through my first tank, though...which is better than my old 1.9DG at any rate :) I reckon (and this is calculated using GPS and my fuel gauge, so is subject to change) I'm on target for between 30 to 35MPG and that's all B roads and backlanes, no...

Horrible Squeaking from AAZ

Hello, my AAZ conversion is running fine, but it makes a horrible high pitched squealing noise all of the time :( It goes up and down with engine revs rather than van speed, so it's definitely coming from the engine. I had the alternator bearings fail on my old 1.9DG engine a while ago, and it sound...

Ridiculous
...well, that's me told! :D

I did find somewhere that a smooth brick has a CD of 2.0, so your estimate of 1.0 isn't too unkind

When I've used my current tank of fuel, I'll tell you what I managed to get MPG-wise...

I thought 25mpg was terrible - I honestly thought my engine was on its last legs...which it was, to be honest, as it blew both head gaskets and emptied itself of coolant and oil in one, big, noisy death-rattle...hence my AAZ conversion. I've been looking around for the CD figures for a T25, but with...

I'm going to pretend I didn't read that, as it wasn't figured out in excel...

...well, I'll just have to spend that £17.21 on loose cars and fast women then, to make the very most of it :)

Thanks for all of this :) The 45MPG is only a guess, although I'd hope to be getting better than 30MPG! OK, the T25 isn't that aerodynamic, but its not got airbrakes! I'm pretty happy that this engine develops a lot more torque than the old DG I had, but I've been wondering about the whole RPM vs Th...

Er...anybody spot the deliberate mistake, there? Yep - all my wheel sizes assumed the tyre was completely flat...I'd only added on the height of the tyre to one side of the rim :) I wondered why the tyresave thing didn't match my sizes...I've actually been out and measured my wheels this time, so I ...

you have got to much time if you think excel is lovely Well...in the same way that I go to lovely work and pay lovely taxes :) The 5-speed gearbox is "new" out of a 2.1 petrol - the DG had an autobox on it. 45MPG is really quite nice, although I'm not sure I'm actually getting that, it's ...

Bigger Wheels - Better MPG

Hello, I recently converted my van from a 1.9DG to a 1.9TD (AAZ?) and, just for good measure, swapped out my original auto box for a 5-speed box - it was *just* marginally cheaper to do than buying a new van :) Now I've got a fantastic amount of low-down torque compared to before, so I want to make ...

Thanks for that - I'll give them a ring and see if the oil cooler would suit a 1.9TD

If anybody has any thoughts on the intercooler, please feel free to comment.

Thanks :)
