Re: Domestic Electrics NON VW.

Thanks for all the advice. Decided to extend the lighting circuit from lobby ceiling light. Fortune was on my side.... I cut out a small segment of coving in the corner of the lobby near front door. At this point l drilled a hole into loft space. Here l noticed an obsolete two core wire and recalled...

Re: Domestic Electrics NON VW.

Okay and thanks to both. Yes the two reds go into a round metal conduit heading towards floorboards. Then one red appears at the connector above lighting in lobby. So comms reds continously stays live to switch. Then flicking switch connects live circuit to ceiling bulb. Might take a floorboard up. ...

Re: Domestic Electrics NON VW.

Okay and thanks. From my online researching 1960's wiring normally consists of red live and black neutral. Yet, there are a few other light switches around our bungalow running red and red. The porch wall is poorly accessible from loft to run a new live from lighting circuit, so may as well go batte...

Domestic Electrics NON VW.

Is there any way l can use this internal light switch wiring in lobby, by front door, to run an extended spur, chased into wall, for an exterior twin blue/brown cable working (tested) porch light found in a bag in loft? I was thinking of using another switch incorporating a 5 amp fuse either at this...

Re: Chicken switch ( standard 2 speed fan)

Check which type of fuses the van uses in the glovebox. If old style torpedo, then unlikely it is the same process. Itchyfeet's article only covers late (post1985/6) vans.

Yes. I followed his instruction and fan works automatically on first and second stage, too.

Re: 2.1 DJ won't fire up after head rebuilds

I think continuous spray is wrong. I recorded a video in slow mo and could see it pulsing. It runs batched injection. If it sprays continuously then I would say that's a sign of the Digijet ECU being fried. The same used to happen on Digifant golf GTIs and it fills up the cylinders until they lock ...

Re: 2.1 DJ won't fire up after head rebuilds

Continous spray is correct. Try a squirt of Easystart to see if it fires. A quick spray via the rubber trunk after throttle body. Three things spring to mind: Hall sender faulty. ECU faulty. Does it prime fuel on turning key for half a second? If no, follow Bentley ECU test procedure ISU Idle Stabil...

Re: Resistor search. NON VW

Great stuff and many thanks to both. The top one at 0.25W but on 100k ohms will match. As the current resistor in my Dimplex heater has no continuity l assume it is dead? And the illumination bulb is toast as well, then? This failure coincides with a recent local power cut. So l reckon change the re...

Resistor search. NON VW

Looking for a replacement four band resistor. Brown/black/yellow/gold is 100K ohms. But how do l determine wattage? I've seen this four band resistor in 1/4 watts up to 4 watts and not sure which one to purchase. This is for the thermostat on/off switch illuminating the tell-tale bulb in an old 240v...

Re: Chicken Switch Question

Courtesy of Itchyfeet... but for late wiring petrol vans only, l believe. I followed this link fitting one to my 89 camper. Dead easy. Fitted mainly to combat the chaotic and slow traffic in the south east and we use The Blackwall Tunnel and Dartford Crossing regularly. Plus we tow a caravan. https:...
