Re: Diesel pump leak advice - poss via LDA?
Be sure you need a new LDA/rebuild kit before you do it. Easiest way to check is to remove the small dia pipe (feeding pressure from the inlet manifold) from the spigot on the body of the LDA canister. Pull the rod out of the LDA so that the bellows is extended. Clamp a finger/thumb over the spigot...

Re: Diesel pump leak advice - poss via LDA?
I had the same problem recently with leaky LDA shaft seal only place i could get was from spain! . Postage was more than the seal.. And be careful when you do up the nut again. As read lots of story's of people shearing them.. Also i just rebuilt my Lda with a kit.. Much cheaper than a replacement....

Diesel pump leak advice - poss via LDA?
It never rains but it pours...😏 I saw some some smoke from the engine and noticed a diesel drip from the lever circled in red on the picture. I think it’s the LDA and it appears there may be a seal failure. First of all does this make sense? Secondly are they easy to replace and anyone know a quick ...

Re: Broken spigot on brake vacuum pump woes..
The partnrs for the two kind of lids are 028145111A and 068145111A. The 068 part should be the earlier, the one you need. However partnrs are badly referenced all over everywhere. JP Group says their 1117150810 partnr is the 068145111A And their 1117150610 is the 028145111A I could not decipher whi...

Re: Broken spigot on brake vacuum pump woes..
What is the part number of the pump you are fitting it to ? I have an original vw pump 068 145 207. Not sure I’m afraid - you can see on the old pump the spigot is close to the bolt hole, on the newer ones it’s more centralised between the bolt holes and is a slightly different shape. Which one do...

Re: Broken spigot on brake vacuum pump woes..
Photos added. Different shape, holes don’t align. I’ve drilled out a new hole in the replacement top and it seems to fit ok, I’ve had to stick with the old ‘O’ ring tho which wasn’t in great shape. I was tempted to drift out and replace the spigot from the new piece but wasn’t sure if I’d damage it ...

Help! Broken down and packed up to go on holiday
VW T3 1.6TD Gipsy. Family in and gone 200 yards when there was a loud banging consistent with wheel speed but only on deceleration. Engine sounds good whilst stationary, no noise when accelerating only when slowing down whether I use the brakes or not. Real significant clunk. I've had the timing bel...

Missing part in cambelt replacement?
Hi all. Replacing the cambelt and tensioner in an early 1985 1.6TD and noticed that the old tensioner is rubbing against the engine - a mechanic I spoke to seems to think it should have had a washer or shim (assuming with the off centre bolt hole) in place but there was nothing there. Can't seem to ...

Re: Is it my head gasket?
I've always used the method I think was attributes to Baxter of running the engine up to temperature, revvin it with the dalek cap off (coolant drops quite a bit) and topping it up before putting the cap back on and dropping the revs - has worked every time for me.

Temp gauge reading too low
Hi all. 1.6TD Gipsy I replaced the dashpod binnacle (clock not working and in kilometres) and now the temp gauge is way over to the left, it moves right when warmed up but it's still too far over - ideas? (I have been pulling out the modules in the fusebox and think they're back in the right way...)...
