Unknown broken wire - please help identify

Does anybody know what this red wire is for?  Has a split in the insulation with some temp tape to cover it - as well as a black wire which is completely split off the terminal at one end. In my experience it is always water getting behind the seal and sitting in the lower corners on the steel work that rots them out. Not always visible from outside. So if you are going to pump in sealant then between the seal and body would be my first choice. You will have to try and dry the area o...

I just replaced the springs on mine - weirdly the mechanism sometimes engages but sometimes gets caught.

It's as if the seat base needs to go higher to let the catch roll into the next divot on the little wedge piece - but I'm lifting it basically 90 degrees.

As a temp fix for a slight front-end leak I'm gonna try some Captain Tolley's round the screen. Can't see any bubbling or visible gaps where water could be coming in - but it is. What I can't figure out is whether to apply it between the seal and the glass or the seal and the body - both?? Yes I'm a...
