Re: fitting new coolant header tank
I took the van out for a 10 mile run today. Everything seemed OK, the heater was hot and the temperature gauge stayed in the middle. The header tank was still full to the top and the expansion tank was still at the same level. The top pipe running across the front of the engine bay was still only wa...

fitting new coolant header tank
I have just fitted a new header tank to my 1985 T25 fitted with a DG engine. I siphoned the coolant out of the old tank before removing it and fitting the new one. On refilling the tank it only took half the coolant that came out, I squeezed all pipes in the engine bay and had a few air bubbles come...
Re: New cadac
I found the burner control valve is a bit hit and miss on the Cadac. When you are cooking with the grill plates in place you can't see the burner and you have no idea how high or low the heat is until it is too late. I tried marking the control on mine but it is still a bit iffy. What it needs is a ...

Re: who has a fiamma caravanstore
I used ally "C" rail on mine. It costs £24.99 for 3 x 1.2 metre lengths from Amazon, it is actually supplied by caravansupplies4U The rail has a sticky back so you can stick it to the van prior to drilling the screw holes. The screws supplied with mine went rusty so I replaced them with st...

Re: Front grills polish or paint?
My front grills were looking a bit grim so I bought a can of back to black stuff from the £ shop, it works a treat. Also does all the plastic inside the van as well.

Re: 1.9 l Automatic Trans.Oil
The current ATF when your van was manufactured would have been Dexro IID so II or III would be OK. The current Dexron ATF is VI. All Dexron ATF's are backwards compatible. I have the October 1987 edition of the workshop manual for the 090 automatic gearbox which states: Initial filling 6 litres. Oil...

Re: Why does anyone use Butane ?
I used butane originally as my autosleeper was supplied with a 907 Camping Gaz cylinder and a Calor dumpy wouldn't go through the locker door. Having been caught out a couple of times with frozen gas bottles I decided to modify my gas locker so I could fit a 3.9kg Calor propane cylinder. The differe...

another headlight conversion for 1985 T25
I decided to upgrade my headlights which although I had fitted Ring R012 60/55w Halogen bulbs were still pretty dismal, so bypassing the switchgear with relays was the next step. I wanted to retain the four individual fuses for each bulb. Since there were two vacant spaces next to the load reduction...

wiring diagram for 1985 T25 with DG engine
does anyone know where I can obtain a wiring diagram for 1985 Transporter with a DG engine. The diagrams in the Haynes and Brooklands manuals are post 1986 and the fuses and relay layouts are nothing like mine. The colours of the wires are also different. The Haynes manual gives a picture of the ear...

Re: CB Radio
I fitted one a few months ago and haven't heard anyone on channel 25 despite putting out calls on the way to, and at, VW rallies etc. I have also put out calls on channel 14 and 25 without response. There are very few people on there at the moment it seems. I thought perhaps it wasn't working so che...

Re: Auto sleeper trident table leg enigma!
could it be to fix the two tables together for storage? My a/s table fits on the end of the units behind the drivers seat and there is room for a smaller table to fit to it, just a thought.

Re: Best chemical toilet?
I have got a Bi-Pot 30, it leaks rinse fluid when tipped on its side for carrying. This is not a problem if you know about it, I lift the whole unit out, separate the top tank from the bottom before taking the bottom to empty it. it also leaks rinse fluid through the pump into the bowl while you are...

Re: Camp sites Swanage - Portland Area?
The Swanage 80/90 meet in April was held at the Woodyhyde Camp site near Corfe Castle. It is on the A351 about a mile past the village of Corfe Castle on the right hand side. It is a quiet site with showers and toilet block, hook ups and a small shop. We walked over the fields to the railway station...
