Re: Red & Black solenoid wire, is it ignition wire?

Thanks guys for those added tips. I did indeed make sure that spade terminal had a gentle squeeze to grip the terminal and soldering is always good idea too of course to make those connections more permanent

Re: Red & Black solenoid wire, is it ignition wire?

Thanks Robsey. Yeah, was a bit green! but I zapped it with good dose of contact spray, small needle file etc and used a small cable tie too to secure it to the other blank terminal post next to it so hopefully this ain't going no where now!  With the new battery too, the engine fires up almost insta...

Re: Red & Black solenoid wire, is it ignition wire?

Good tip, thanks Colin. Sure, seems like a vibration issue that's done this and was looking to make it more secure when I refit the starter early tomorrow. It's the kind of thing that can let you down in the middle of a field somewhere - and Sod's law, in the dark! so it's worth a 'belt and ...

Moving the slave cylinder mount aside?

Hi all, Any help always appreciated - thanks - as we're booked to go away this Friday and suspected starter motor problem (no start or cranking - lights dim when ignition is turned so it seems volts are going to it, but need to take off and check solenoid/starter/replace?)  Engine is 1.9 Diesel AAZ ...

Re: Can't find that fuse! - cigarette lighter

Thanks again Robsey for all your thoughts and time on this one- and everyone else - amigo. I think you've covered the best possibilities there so I'll have a look again on the weekend and see what's best to do? I think I will also double check and clean and contact spray every fuse too and also chec...

Re: Can't find that fuse! - cigarette lighter

...just seen your other post R. Yeah, definitely spaghetti there and not the best way to be and can appreciate what  you're saying about soldering properly etc. If I was nearer to your end, sure It would have been appreciated - and paid for of course! - a wiring health check there.    It's that old ...

Re: Can't find that fuse! - cigarette lighter

...We've had the van 14 years now but the leisure battery has never been used or was there when we bought the van and still that way now.

Generally rely on electric hook up when on site etc. All fuses in the empty Leisure battery bay are okay too, not blown.

Re: Can't find that fuse! - cigarette lighter

Thanks for taking so much trouble there Robsey to list this lot, that's much appreciated mate :ok Just to clarify tho - as I might have confused? - but it seems - going by the photo I'd managed to get of the  fag lighter unit - there's a RED lead coming off the lighter - or would that be feeding it ...

Re: Can't find that fuse! - cigarette lighter

Appreciate that last post Robsey, thanks. I found those x2 extra other fuses tho that which were the right side of the gear stick/under the dash and with that plastic cover on etc - was an easy flip off after all and both were red 16 amp fuses. One of them had blown tho and was building hopes up the...

Re: Can't find that fuse! - cigarette lighter

Thanks for that Rob, picture always helps for sure! I haven't got access to the van until tomorrow to take a photo, but  looking online, the cover looks like the attached here. Being able to see from this image too, looks like it prises off from the side now I'm guessing, with a blade or something? ...
